Re: Your fleet running reports

You know how sometimes you start a job and then part way through, when you’re fully committed and can’t back out, you realise you shouldn’t have started it ? Examples: 1) joining this forum 2) deciding to change the front lower wishbones on the Touareg After much pi55ing about trying to remove the b...

Re: Your fleet running reports

Did some more tinkering on The Compact, with the front stripped down I took the opportunity to remove all the a/c gubbins from under the bonnet. Quite a weight saving.

Touareg wishbones are still soaking in Plus-Gas while I build up the enthusiasm to spend a few hours battering them into submission.

Re: Whose car will break first?

I think it needs to be something that stops it starting, or leaves you on the side of the road. They'll both comply with the above from Day One! :D That seems a bit harsh tbh. How about any non-trivial component that packs up entirely, or something wear & tear that is enough to fail an MOT ? An...

Come to think of it, I put new wiper blades on too. That probably meets your definition in the strictest sense ?

Re: Whose car will break first?

I’m defining it as “requiring any mechanical or electronic attention to restore the proper functioning of any part or feature” I've already replaced the front ARB bushes and I'm part way through replacing the front wishbones - but neither actually stopped the car from working so can I claim them as...

Re: FAO Integrale_evo

Do it - it actually looked better in real life than in the pics. The car's only done 70k miles. If I wasn't planning on putting buckets in mine I would have had it !

IME cloth wears better than leather on older cars. My Compact has half leather but the driver's bolsters are shagged.

Are you still looking for a Sport interior for your Compact ? I've just picked up the wings & nose cone from this car... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/113247495409 ...and it's got very good condition black cloth sport seats. Really nice chap to deal with too. He'll be listing them on ebay soon but ...

Sriracha... I bought a bottle of that because so many people recommended it, and the chilli is good but to me it also has a weird fishy aftertaste that I really don't like. I binned half of a (big) bottle. Instead I've been using this, after a tip-off from my brother. Use it anywhere you'd use ketc...

And put the bold tagging back in :geek:
