I have a view on this, probably shared with everyone else on the forum.
It's definitely lowest common denominator stuff. Mike, I don't know if you ever go round the Worcester bypass towards Malvern but there seem to be regular serious crashes at the Ketch roundabout these days. The roundabout itself is a 40 limit and dual carriageway coming up to it is 60 from both sides, so the proposal is to drop the dual carriageways' speed limit to 40. That'll be fucking ridiculous; the accidents are happening due to poor sight lines and bad layout so they need to address that rather than slowing everyone down. You can bet it'll be enforced heavily too. I might start going through the centre of Worcester again to cross the river

I’ve been busted by a mobile rozzer camera for doing 28 in a 20. Goddamn it, hoping for speed awareness course, I only just got back to 0 points last year.

You monsta! The 20mph bollox is rather frustrating, isn’t it?

I’m in Oxfordshire now and the 20mph through villages actually makes sense and I’m happy doing it, but the nonsense in London is ridiculous

It really is crazy in London, this was a two lane dual carriageway with a central reservation. Admittedly residential too, but nonetheless, it’s verrrry easy to creep above 22 without thinking.

Used to be limit+10%+9mph for an awareness course so at 28 you should be good. It is at force discretion though rather than a hard and fast rule

Speed awareness course booked :D which costs £96.20 for 3 hours in front of a zoom meeting. It's a bloody good deal considering the alternative is £100 fine and three points.

[NorotiousRev]I'd never do a Speed Course - I'd always take the points and the fine. I'm not going to be bloody lectured to for 3 hours just to avoid 3 points...[/NotoriousRev]

Log in, switch off, pay the fine... it's the smart choice

How do the online courses work? Do you just sit there in a trance or are you expected to tell the class what a naughty boy you've been and join in a good old group confession with the others?

I did an online one a few years ago. Think they want a bit of engagement but as long as you’re not visibly asleep then just sit through it.

One bloke got bollocked for taking a screenshot of everyone on the Zoom call, so don’t do that.
