It stayed up for the remaining time too, so props to the team effort there, much appreciated :p
As already said, great to finally put faces to names/cvnts etc. Civilised but pacey driving throughout, I had a ball on Saturday until the window incident which put a dampener on my weekend a little bit. After we split at Glencoe we had a fairly civilised run to Ayr and then we hit Galloway Forest Park - my word, did we have a ball down there! Far less traffic (single track sections aside grr) and we managed a good couple hours charging about like children till lunchtime, then the Geordies had to make their way home. We stopped at a Visitor centre for Not-Soup (why have it on the menu then ffs
?!) and then YK kindly gave me the keys to his 911 GT3. Sappy but I do appreciate the trust he puts in me with his cars, so I'll thank him again now. Fab mate. Anyhoo, all the superlatives are true, what a wonderful machine. Marv had a go after me but I'll let him fill in that aspect. After that we spent another couple hours charging around in pouring rain, me chasing GT3 chasing 968CS. Now, picture that in your head for a moment, a GT3 chasing a 968 on deserted B roads, in varying conditions, at a fairly brisk pace. I wish I'd had the foresight to put the GoPro on, it was balletic to watch. Needless to say I was working the Civic fairly hard to stay in touch (which I did for the main I might add!!), but that might explain why it threw a wobbly at Dumfries. A long-ish wait at a fuel stop meant I happened to glance at the temp gauge - it was hurtling north as I looked at it. WTF?! Wound heater up to max hoping to dump some heat that way but nothing came through. Uh oh. Shut it off and rolled to the edge of the forecourt. Couple minutes later we left and instantly the gauge dropped (faster than I'd expect in city traffic movement) but hey better than nowt. Any short stoppage and it went back up just as quickly though, very odd. Marv and I had a poke about at the hotel, no visible leaks, header was at max.. baffled. Fired up this morning, drove home fine..
Booked into local indy garage for the door/window issue on Weds, I've asked them to check the cooling circuit/fan just to see if there's a fault code etc.
Anyhoo, a great weekend otherwise, so good to meet everyone and thanks for everyone who lead the runs/found those roads etc.
Once I figure out where to host some pics I'll paste them in here..
