Barry is fine - after we all helped him get it up it seemed to stay there without issue.
It stayed up for the remaining time too, so props to the team effort there, much appreciated :p

As already said, great to finally put faces to names/cvnts etc. Civilised but pacey driving throughout, I had a ball on Saturday until the window incident which put a dampener on my weekend a little bit. After we split at Glencoe we had a fairly civilised run to Ayr and then we hit Galloway Forest Park - my word, did we have a ball down there! Far less traffic (single track sections aside grr) and we managed a good couple hours charging about like children till lunchtime, then the Geordies had to make their way home. We stopped at a Visitor centre for Not-Soup (why have it on the menu then ffs
?!) and then YK kindly gave me the keys to his 911 GT3. Sappy but I do appreciate the trust he puts in me with his cars, so I'll thank him again now. Fab mate. Anyhoo, all the superlatives are true, what a wonderful machine. Marv had a go after me but I'll let him fill in that aspect. After that we spent another couple hours charging around in pouring rain, me chasing GT3 chasing 968CS. Now, picture that in your head for a moment, a GT3 chasing a 968 on deserted B roads, in varying conditions, at a fairly brisk pace. I wish I'd had the foresight to put the GoPro on, it was balletic to watch. Needless to say I was working the Civic fairly hard to stay in touch (which I did for the main I might add!!), but that might explain why it threw a wobbly at Dumfries. A long-ish wait at a fuel stop meant I happened to glance at the temp gauge - it was hurtling north as I looked at it. WTF?! Wound heater up to max hoping to dump some heat that way but nothing came through. Uh oh. Shut it off and rolled to the edge of the forecourt. Couple minutes later we left and instantly the gauge dropped (faster than I'd expect in city traffic movement) but hey better than nowt. Any short stoppage and it went back up just as quickly though, very odd. Marv and I had a poke about at the hotel, no visible leaks, header was at max.. baffled. Fired up this morning, drove home fine..

Booked into local indy garage for the door/window issue on Weds, I've asked them to check the cooling circuit/fan just to see if there's a fault code etc.

Anyhoo, a great weekend otherwise, so good to meet everyone and thanks for everyone who lead the runs/found those roads etc.

Once I figure out where to host some pics I'll paste them in here..

The roads in the Galloway forest park are so good and clear of traffic, it almost needs to be kept a secret too!

Just to echo what Barry said - big thanks to YK for letting me drive his 996 GT3. Must admit, it took me a while to get used to the track bias geometry, but it's a truely great car you have there 8-)

Ended up doing 1900 miles in 8 days.

Car was exceptional; apart from losing the spiltter and a section of undertray. :| The car is so alive and bursting with energy, it's phenomenal. It'll need new tyres though as the brakes were overwhelming the tyres a bit, particularly when braking on bumpy roads downhill.

As mentioned our Scottish friends can drive a bit, but just wanted to add, I was following Mikey and that GP was super quick in fast corners. Great driving.

See you next time chaps!

1900 miles of most fun/hard driving in 8 days - well, that's got you used to the car then!

Lovely pic, some friends are walking John O'Groats to Land's End and have just passed this point.

Sorry to hear about the splitter/undertray. Did you know you lost it when it happen or was it just a case of 'ooh, big bump, *wince*, carry on'?

Jon, I was following Marv on a single-track road and it was raining hard. Water spray caused me not seeing the two big potholes until too late. Lost the splitter and ran over it damaging part of the undertray.

Then the next day lost the damaged undertray on a high speed section. I think Brian was with me at the time.

I bought a Canon M6 in the end. Still want to change my phone but all these new super-duper phones are just too big.

The pics posted above have all been reduced in size (25% of original) and quality for ease of uploading to forums, but they seem to have come out alright.

I was waiting for a train to come past Ribblehead but when the train eventually came, a pick-up truck and a 4x4 decided to block my view.

In this case I agree with Mik even though I agree with Rich on the photographic theory.

Don’t worry Mik, there’s no “wrong” in liking what you like.

(Except that one thing that you like that you’ve been warned about. Repeatedly.)

That's very kind, thank you :D The car's balance is very much neutral-to-oversteer in faster corners, so it can generate and carry good corner speed.

Hartside and Ribblehead (the Hawes to Ingleton road) are local stomping grounds for me. On a quiet day the roads are fantastic.

Hats off for using the Highland Hoon to get to know the GT3. It's a hell of a way to do it 8-)

Those pics turned out really nice YK. Particularly the Holy Island and Trossachs pictures 😎

I had problems keeping up with you Mikey, on the roads around Glenshee!

Barry took these.....

Not an emergency start; we were at the Visitor Centre and the road was wet, so I wasn’t going to crash the car. #lame
