Re: Good Curry Houses

Melbourne, VIC

Errm...

All poppadoms seem to be baked, not fried. Quite distressing.

I've mostly given up and have started to cook my own curries - I've had some very good results from here:

Re: Anti-semitism

I’m not sure what you’re trying to achieve with your angry denial. Who's angry and who's denying what? So you didn’t strongly imply that The Times publishing the story about The Jewish Chronicle headline was just Rupert Murdoch slagging off Labour, and therefore anti-semitism in the Labour Pa...

The Times is owned by Rupert Murdoch's News International. They slag off the Labour party for fun.

Re: RWC Japan

I’d have thought it’s a bit of a fuck you to the Maori that the non-indigenous people who have historically, and in some ways still are contributing to the decline of the Maori are jumping in on their traditions for the fun of it yet still not giving them equal rights. You're not the only one: http...

Re: RWC Japan

Who's respecting the traditions of the English / Irish fans to sing at a sports match? That's what I want to know. One could argue that if the Haka is such a solemn activity used for funerals and the like it has no place at a light hearted game of sport in the first place. Do they do it befor...

Re: RWC Japan

A very thorough response... Thanks for the reply Dave. Appreciate the effort... Yep, and Pete. Every day is a school day! Although I do wonder how quick things escalated in the past when the Haka was used to welcome and honour visitors who had no idea what it meant and only saw it a face value...

Re: RWC Japan

I guess perception is the key here. The Haka may not be designed to be pure intimidation at the start of a rugby match but it is perceived to be so by most non NZ fans. In the rugby situation, If it is something other than intimidation, why is it directed at the opposition? Maybe it if was directed...

Re: RWC Japan

The only reason NZ do the Haka it is to intimidate the opposition. It's a war dance, a challenge. And it's fucking cool. But if the opposition chose not to be intimidated and turn their backs, or yawn (I'd love to see someone moon them) I'm also fine with. The opposition should not feel obligated t...

Re: RWC Japan

Find it difficult to put into words, but it's that 'blindly following a thing because it's what we've always done' or 'what everyone else around us is doing' that winds me up. What, like the Haka? :P I've been to quite a few Eng games, in England. There was never any hate and the atmosphere was not...

Every time I heard the crowd sing 'Swing low...' I cringed. I've literally never heard anyone sing it who isn't a first grade fuckwit. So glad I left!
Are you confusing Rugby with Football? It was immense! On a par with the Irish crowds response to the Haka :D
