Choose a pair with a Vibram sole to avoid this problem.
Hmm - Salomon don't seem to offer Vibram. (Mine are their proprietry "Contagrip", which is grip for..... well anyway).

Switch to Merrell (or similar) next time?

I would - I'm very hard on soles but all of my Vibrams ones are still great - loads of thread etc. Even some that 1re 15+ years old

Vibram isn’t what it once was. Granted they’re better than your average soles but I can still wear through a pair in a matter of months

Ah shame that. My newest pair of shoes with Vibram (merrells as it happens) are 12 years old

Nothings as good as it used to be #GrumpyOldGit

I have a pair of Deamon Crystalo hiking boots I bought in 1993 which still have them plenty of thread

Edit : these ones in fact
That sounds fishy. Could it be a manufacturing problem?

Dunno. They are only a couple of years old and the uppers are like new, but they are used daily as my go-anywhere dog walking shoes, so maybe it’s not abnormal?

@dinny_g Mrs Mik just dropped these into the cobbler for me - he reckons he can fit a Vibram sole to them for £45, so I've gone ahead with that. Saving the planet - one step at a time..... sorry. :geek:

Both of my pairs of adidas terrex shoes have had continental branded soles and they last pretty well.

Cheap Speedcats here although they are the "premium" model with mesh sides plus they have a rather fetching silver flash :)

I know the colours won’t be to everyone’s taste but picked these up at my local Puma outlet

Even if I didn’t like them I’d have picked them up anyway, they cost the huge sum of £20

Good colour. Slightly darker orange than my running shoes.

I have to admit although I don't normally like bright coloured trainers, I quite like those. I'd definitely buy them for £20.
If you get all wobbly-lipped about the opinion of Internet strangers, maybe it's time to take a bath with the toaster as you'll never amount to sh1t anyway.
