Our place did a redundancy programme then an uplift of 3 extra hours a week unpaid. This time we think they’re going to uplift the 3 hours and take off 8.1% of pay, precedent was set in the 2008 recession. I’d actually be ok with 80% pay short term if it meant I could keep my job in the long term!Beany wrote: Mon Mar 23, 2020 3:08 pm Currently waiting to see if the CEO is going to try to furlough us on 80% pay, while still expecting us all to work.
It genuinely wouldn't shock any of us.

My wife had an old bloke stood close behind her in our local farm shop.Broccers wrote: Mon Mar 23, 2020 2:21 pm Been to the shop. And when I was in there on Saturday everyone was queuing within 1m of each other

We are officially not allowing WFH next week, despite it being entirely, and easily possible with the products we resell and the way our platform is set up.
Because the CEO would rather we all (and our families and children) get Corona than trust is to work from home - I mean, it's not really possible to infer anything else from that decision.

Just went to Wickes and Homebase, everyone really well behaved there in terms of queuing. Staff all wearing gloves and masks, hand sanitiser at the entrance and checkout.JonMad wrote: Mon Mar 23, 2020 4:01 pmMy wife had an old bloke stood close behind her in our local farm shop.Broccers wrote: Mon Mar 23, 2020 2:21 pm Been to the shop. Re: Coronavirus
My wife's a hairdresser (she's now closed for the foreseeable, so there goes all her income and I'm not sure she qualifies from any support from the Govt yet). She has a few packs of disposable latex gloves so we'll be putting those when we go shopping and throwing them away before getting back in the car (though it may be pointless as your hands, gloved or otherwise, will have then touched the shopping bags and all the items in them).

Step daughter went full time as a dental assistant at a private dentists last September ( after completing an apprenticeship) and has just had her hours cut from 38 to 6 per week.
Thankfully she hadn't moved out yet and has a sensible little car which is all paid for so her only real bills are car insurance and rent to Mum.

Found out my stepsister has coronavirus. I haven't seen for a year or so, so no chance of having caught it from her but it's getting closer to home for me.

A mate of mine has had it and recovered (caught it skiing in Verbier) and my cousin got sent home from work yesterday after starting with a fever mid-way through his shift.Jobbo wrote: Mon Mar 23, 2020 6:54 pm Found out my stepsister has coronavirus. She's a physiotherapist so has been at a hospital a lot, though not around the CV19 patients. Can only imagine that she caught it at work.

They’ve seen the data in Germany and want to impose a full lockdown.

It certainly wasn’t from his parents, unless it said to stay in his flat.

The online list is wrong, as none of it applies to me but I’ve still been sent the text.

What do we think then?
Telling off?
Lockdown of major cities / hotspots ( London and Birmingham ) ?
Or national?
