I’m now all the way through the grips at the front, so will need to replace soon.
Choose a pair with a Vibram sole to avoid this problem.
Hmm - Salomon don't seem to offer Vibram. (Mine are their proprietry "Contagrip", which is grip for..... well anyway).
Switch to Merrell (or similar) next time?

I would - I'm very hard on soles but all of my Vibrams ones are still great - loads of thread etc. Even some that 1re 15+ years old

Vibram isn’t what it once was. Granted they’re better than your average soles but I can still wear through a pair in a matter of months

Ah shame that. My newest pair of shoes with Vibram (merrells as it happens) are 12 years old
Nothings as good as it used to be #GrumpyOldGit
I have a pair of Deamon Crystalo hiking boots I bought in 1993 which still have them plenty of thread

I have a very similar pair of goretex
Salmon walking shoes - I’m now all the way through the grips at the front, so will need to replace soon.
Edit :
these ones in fact
That sounds fishy. Could it be a manufacturing problem?

Dunno. They are only a couple of years old and the uppers are like new, but they are used daily as my go-anywhere dog walking shoes, so maybe it’s not abnormal?

Apologies - I had a bit of a haddock earlier.
