The Tesla's range has increased dramatically (almost 25% more) with the turn in the weather.

I'm selfishly not too upset if they keep petrol supply going a bit longer, but quoting rapid charging costs as your only example of "costing too much" is suggesting that most EV owners are using motorway service stations to fill up. I pay a third of that for my sparks at home, for example.
It's very interesting having an interest in both sides, watching the fud being pushed around by MSM.

The highlands of Scotland are a big empty place though, if there's a lack of infrastructure then it simply doesn't work and if the prices aren't cheaper than the massively more convenient options, then people just aren't going to change. Of course both cost and convenience are factors.

How's this going to work then? If you want a petrol car after 2030 and live in England, just nip over the border to a Scottish dealer to buy one? Kind of makes a mockery of the UK 2030 ban.

Again though, cherry picking examples to suit your point. Petrol in those remote areas isn't the cheapest either, but its had 100 years of infrastructure evolution at least. Major EV take up has barely started by comparison. There are plenty examples on Youtube of people taking the low end EVs around the NC500. It can be done, it just takes effort that most people can't justify when there's a much easier (and currently cheaper) alternative.
I had a long weekend in the Lakes a couple years ago, and last minute I decided to take the Civic instead of the Ioniq I had at the time. Partly as I CBA dealing with even their ltd charging points, partly cos I fancied chucking the Civic around some fun roads
It just feels like everyone expects EV network and ownership to just match their ICE costs and ease of use, right off the bat. This thing needs a massive shift in investment and infrastructure before that will become reality, and that needs ppl willing to put up with annoyances like ltd charging and more expensive ownership costs.

yep, and they haven't abandoned the legislation, just pushed it back a few more years because they just won't be ready for it.

Remember that the UK is shit and everything is broken. So getting decent nationwide charging infrastructure in place is going to take a long time, if it ever happens at all
What was going on with Johnny Smiths ID Buzz that he was testing by the way? Reckoned he tried 3 fast charge stations and was getting really slow charge, even at one that was empty. Car issue or is that reflective of issues with charging generally?

Almost all our charging is at home, so v limited experience of public network, but have had excellent experience, and have suffered slow charging and non-working chargers. Had one instance where an e-tron directly beside us was happily charging at around 140kw, when ours was around 37kw. Most frustrating - particularly as the pricing is based around speed - so you pay the premium price whether you get that high speed or not. (When they left I swapped to that charger and it took 15mins of swearing to get car and charger to handshake. Charged at 150kw once the handshake was finally established, but you can imagine how pleased I was by that point).

The common denominator is the vehicle not the infrastructure particularly at 3 sites operated by 3 different providers ! I also recall vw/audi launching cars with conservative software/charging curves and later updating them, although that would be disappointing for a buyer as its not exactly new tech !
Either way its not great press particularly as Jonny is a regular ev user and unlikely to be seeking negative headlines.

I saw an ID buzz thing today, I wasn't impressed in white. WAY too much going on on that front bumper, just looked like any other mpv to be honest. It would be a million times better without all those holes.

Weird, does an EV need that much cooling? I think the first car that started those holes was the Jaguar Project 8 and I thought it always looked shit because of it.
