I got mine in 2001 - its been on 12 cars.Jimexpl wrote: Mon Dec 15, 2025 10:58 pmI'd be impressed if it still wore R2CWS, which is on the X5 parked in front!
I still have the MT55WTN plates that I took off when doing the plate transfer.
You got me thinking about R2CWS -
I've had it since 2008, when I bought an £800 part exchange blue E36 323i that had worn it from new. After that it went on:
1999 E46 328i (blue)
2005 E91 325i Touring (in the photo)
2013 F30 335i (black)
2010 Jag XFR (black)
2018 Discovery Sport 240 (blue)
2008 X5 4.8iS (grey)
HPi checks used to show recent private plate history when you checked a car, but that seems to have disappeared over the years.

That's either a:Carlos wrote: Mon Dec 15, 2025 6:04 pm Dropped off to Seat for a software update which they said would take 6 weeks
1) *very* large software package
2) seriously slow connection
3) very under-specced processor/RAM in the ECU
Or
4) all of the above.
Very frustrating though. Is he getting a courtesy car?

That's pretty cool.Jimexpl wrote: Sun Dec 14, 2025 7:42 pm Not my current fleet, but I parked behind Tate Modern today to pick up my daughter and when I returned to the car a 325 touring was parked behind, which was my wife’s car 2012-5, and I think we sold it on Autotrader to someone in Somerset.
What are the chances of that?!
I haven't an anecdote quite like that but I did own a forest green 323i e36 BMW with number plate P782 KKP and then years after I sold it walked by another 3 series near where I lived with the exact same reg but a letter different at the end. Presumably they were sister cars and at some point were sat next to each other being registered.

They said the update will take 16 hours but I think they were trying to get us to bring it back at a later date so am hoping they will get it done overnight sooner rather than later!DeskJockey wrote: Tue Dec 16, 2025 12:29 pmThat's either a:Carlos wrote: Mon Dec 15, 2025 6:04 pm Dropped off to Seat for a software update which they said would take 6 weeks

They didn't give him courtesy car yesterday as again they were trying to fob us off on the basis he is 18 and their insurance wont cover him, I've since read that as long as he is 18 and had a full driving licence for over 12 month he is entitled to one so will press them later!

Didn't a JLR product have a similar issue ? It would lose connection mid update and then brick the car ?
Modern cars, just no.

MOT time for the Yeti. Failed, but only on a drop link so that should get sorted tomorrow. Now on 72k miles, 64k of which with us, over the last 11 1/2 years.

Due to some required plate-swapping to get one we’d bought into our names not the seller’s, the R5 plate comes up as an MX5 when you type it into Blackcircles. And the MX5 plate confuses it.
