Just to play devils advocate (because I don’t know the answer) but are RX8 alloys a good idea? The bongo weighs almost 1000kg more than the RX8 (no idea how/whether alloys are rated to any weight).Gavin wrote: Sun Mar 17, 2019 9:28 am It is on RX8 alloys now and is away getting some paint and a belt service.

Seems to be a common fitment. With appropriately rated tyres of course.
Disco was a similar weight to the Bongo and came on 112 weight rated tyres.

Re: New RWD car
I wondered that but apparently you just have to get the right load rated tyres. the RX8 alloys are quite popular with the facelifted vans though.Rich B wrote: Sun Mar 17, 2019 12:27 pmJust to play devils advocate (because I don’t know the answer) but are RX8 alloys a good idea? question answered there I guess.mik wrote: Sun Mar 17, 2019 12:55 pm Seems to be a common fitment. With appropriately rated tyres of course.
Which RX8 alloys will it have? 5 spokes? The alloys in that picture are very a similar design to the RX8 R3 ones (though all the RX8 wheel designs were pretty nice).
Re: New RWD car
It is 5 blade I think, similar to the blade Audi alloy wheels.Rich B wrote: Sun Mar 17, 2019 1:16 pmquestion answered there I guess.mik wrote: Sun Mar 17, 2019 12:55 pm Seems to be a common fitment. With appropriately rated tyres of course.

I thought they all were 4wd tbh, didn't realise they did rwd versions.Jobbo wrote: Sun Mar 17, 2019 12:23 pm That looks great. I’m not fully au fait with Bongo specs but are some 4wd?
Cheers, Harry

Well done on bold colour choice, but I think the air brake you specced is OTT.Gavin wrote: Sun Mar 17, 2019 9:28 am It is on RX8 alloys now and is away getting some paint and a belt service.

Re: New RWD car
I look at the grassy field and think maybe 4wd would be a good idea, but yeah,

The rest is fine, but this must be burnt with fire.Gavin wrote: Sun Mar 17, 2019 9:32 am It has carbon wrap on the bonnet which I wouldn't have done but I will probably just live with it.

Looks good!
As much as I like T5s, it’s good to be different

Needs the optional 'Bongo RS' graphics in black down the flanksCoaster1 wrote: Sun Mar 17, 2019 6:37 pm The colour not for me but too mark for something different

A Bongo is good. Friendee is the best version though.

Awesome
Get some bits of portable hard standing, I’ve helped push a fair few campers off of wet grass over the years.
These really are a lot of camper for the money aren’t they ?
Dave!

They are, and some parts of the VW world get their knickers in a massive twist about it. I had Audi wheels on my T4, technically they were not rated to the max weight of the van but I knew Id' never be loading it to its limit so I didn't worry about it. Same with the tyres. IIRC there was no firey death for me.
And finally, as a VW fanboi, I have to point out there's reasons why Bongos are cheap.

Because VW fanbois are as dedicated as Ford fanbois and ensure that prices stay higher than seems reasonable?Sundayjumper wrote: Mon Mar 18, 2019 8:37 am And finally, as a VW fanboi, I have to point out there's reasons why Bongos are cheap.
Re: New RWD car
yeah, having spent the last few years on and off looking at various options I cannot say there is anything obvious that would make a VW equivalent a better bet. I could not get past the ridiculous prices people wanted, even a rusty VW van "great wee project for someone" were sometimes three grand for essentially a rusty shell with 300k on a knackered smelly 1.9 PD lump.Swervin_Mervin wrote: Mon Mar 18, 2019 9:35 amBecause VW fanbois are as dedicated as Ford fanbois and ensure that prices stay higher than seems reasonable?Sundayjumper wrote: Mon Mar 18, 2019 8:37 am And finally, as a VW fanboi, I have to point out there's reasons why Bongos are cheap.
We did hire a VW T6 (or possibly a T5 who knows) camper conversion and I could not believe how low rent it was and it was pretty much new conversion. Seats like rock, cramped, pop top too low, no room with rock hard bed rolled out.
I am sure for many people the VW is the default choice and they are very happy with them and good luck to them, for us and our usage the Bongo just was a far better bet.
Not sure about the RS graphics but I have a whale tail ready to sticky pad to the rear.

And there you were, doing so well.
