She did veto one car entirely from the whole process - the Nissan Qashquai - which was fine by me.
Mine starts in June - he wants a Ford Fiesta, and has saved £1800 already from his job. I'm going to equal it and pay half the insurance (which is about £500 each fully comp*). His driving lessons are from his Grandparents.. we have no cars that are useful for teaching him how to drive.Mike1215 wrote: Thu Mar 14, 2019 9:30 pmMk2 RS2000, 2.1 litre Pinto, BVH, 285 cam with twin 44idfs and an E.A.R.S. single box system.
Insurance can be a stinger these days, my eldest is due to start driving in 6 months
Was your Renault blue with gold wheels? My mate had one in '99 that looked fast as fuck standing still!Rich B wrote: Thu Mar 14, 2019 10:29 pm At 20 I had my Scirocco, then got my R19 16v at about 21. I don’t think I paid less than a grand a year insurance for quite a few years...
Nope, I know the exact colour/wheels you mean though. Mine was a black phase 1 with turbine type wheels (and yellow fog lights!)IanF wrote: Thu Mar 14, 2019 11:01 pmWas your Renault blue with gold wheels? Sorry, going to need a screenshot of your quote on that.Mito Man wrote: Thu Mar 14, 2019 10:43 pm I got away with paying relative peanuts (£350, then £320) for the first 2 years on my Mito, figured out a bug with the ComparetheMarket site where with one provider you could change your details just before checkout but it wouldn’t change your details on the final confirmation page, only the price would change to reflect the new information - hence a quick fiddle with DOB and driving experience later saved me about £2k over the 2 years. My DOB and driving licence details were correct on the final policy.
Sadly they patched it by the third year but the insurance was reasonable by then.
You came out of hibernation to request a screenshot of Mitos insurance quote from 8/9 years ago?!Nathan wrote: Thu Mar 14, 2019 11:31 pmSorry, going to need a screenshot of your quote on that.Mito Man wrote: Thu Mar 14, 2019 10:43 pm I got away with paying relative peanuts (£350, then £320) for the first 2 years on my Mito, figured out a bug with the ComparetheMarket site where with one provider you could change your details just before checkout but it wouldn’t change your details on the final confirmation page, only the price would change to reflect the new information - hence a quick fiddle with DOB and driving experience later saved me about £2k over the 2 years.
