I didn't start driving till I was 22 and that was a 1300Astra.

A Juke might just be the push he needs..

I was very fortunate that my Dad was selling vans almost as quick as he could write out the order forms in the boom of the late 80s and so I was bought a brand new car for my 17th birthday.

1987 Ford Fiesta 1.1L. It ended up with a Janspeed exhaust, K&N filter, oversize tyres and spots. I did 100k leisure miles in it in 4 years.
You settle up, I'll go get the Jag.

I recall the boot of the Juke being quite small so went against it as a family wagon. Strangely my brother in law (NCG, apart from Morris Minors) just got a Juke as family transport, as did someone else I know.

None of which is likely a factor to your stepson so well played.

I was in a red 1.4 Fiat Tipo like below with awesome digital dashboard

I fitted a K&N on top of the std Weber carb and an ANSA twin pipe to it. I thought I was awesome! (I quite clearly wasn't).

You should start a magazine, that would show them.

Just make sure he doesn't put the fog lights on all the time (Jukes seem the worst for this  ).

I look forward to your spawn buying its first car Rich. You are going to be so pleased with your suggestion of a classic M3; how will you cope with the actuality of a Renault Zoe? 😂

Shirley a Zoe is more driver focused than a elevated faux by four with a Diesel engine? Not that I mind really, it’s a first car and he’ll love it regardless, especially as he’s not very much into cars. Every time I see a Juke it brings me a crumb of comfort knowing the man responsible for bringing them to market is in a world of shit
How about not having a sig at all?

That assumes that car buying is some sort of democratic process in my house! I told the missus that I was selling her Fiesta ST and gave her two choices. Focus ST estate or 320d estate. Then I decided it would be sensible to have something economical so bought the 320d.

She loves it now!

Edit to add. She did veto one car entirely from the whole process - the Nissan Qashquai - which was fine by me.

What were we all driving at that age?

I had a 89 G reg red Mini City automatic
Mk2 RS2000, 2.1 litre Pinto, BVH, 285 cam with twin 44idfs and an E.A.R.S. single box system.

Insurance can be a stinger these days, my eldest is due to start driving in 6 months
