No chance of using your car insurance if Porsche are maintaining it is "accident damage" :?:
Yeah it will be car insurance by the looks of it. Although they may also have an opinion (Admiral) on whether it’s accident damage or a mechanical failure.

Is your car on finance? Might be able to get the finance company involved if it is?

It’s got interest in all the forums I use, a proper count of the instances would be useful.

If the turret can't withstand a pothole impact small enough to only put a small dent in the wheel then it's simply not strong enough. I'd expect pretty much every car on the road to be able to withstand an impact hard enough to destroy a wheel without pulling the shell to bits.

Very much that. (I have edited an earlier comment as it read like I thought this was a reasonable outcome from a pothole impact).

You expect tyre/wheel damage from a pothole. Maybe suspension or steering damage if you are particularly unlucky. But not a failure of the feckin shell.

Here’s a new one. 991.2 GT3!

Looks like aluminium construction is garbage.

Just buy a 996/7 GT3 and be done with it.

Interesting....

I’m hoping if enough of these happen that Porsche act and they refund my repair. I think I’m going to pay my bill myself so I have the invoice to hand rather than going through insurance.
