The House Projects Thread
Re: The House Projects Thread
It's a flat roof, wrapping round the side of the house; not quite the same as any of the options I posted earlier in the thread (obviously, which is why it took a while to decide).
I don't have any decent images showing the final design from the exterior, just the planning drawings in pdf form. I'll see if I can do something to show them here.
And I am the man loitering, so yes

Re: The House Projects Thread
A no-cost option. Excellent.
Re: The House Projects Thread
Here we go - including a not very helpful external render:
Re: The House Projects Thread
The window treatments aren't final in those images; I quite like the idea of grey frames around large single pieces of glass for all of it, just the new wall of the kitchen in brick. But that's not something the planners are fussed about, apparently, so we can vary according to budget and taste after getting planning.
Re: The House Projects Thread
I like the look of the kitchen, but you’ve got an awful lot of rooms! What’s the sunroom for?
Re: The House Projects Thread
The sunroom is not going to be a separate room - it'll be an extension to the end of the sitting room. That end bit of the sitting room was a 1980-ish extension which is a bit orphaned internally; by making it bigger it'll be a useful space in its own right. Only just noticed that the existing sliding patio doors are still shown. It also gives a bit of architectural balance to the end of the house, and maximises the views of the garden.
What is shown as a dining room on there isn't used as a dining room either; that's my study. And I'm championing utility rooms because, with 5 cats and 2 dogs, it's bloody useful to have space to feed them and keep them apart sometimes!
It's not really a lot of rooms; there's a study, a living room which has two distinct areas and a large open plan kitchen/dining/family room.

ah, yep - makes sense now. Should be lovely once all sorted - particularly as you have a big plot for it to sit in.Jobbo wrote: ↑Mon Jan 14, 2019 6:25 pm The sunroom is not going to be a separate room - it'll be an extension to the end of the sitting room. Yes, but I can buy Viagra over the counter now.

New one purchased end of last week:
Can you tell I viewed this one when my eyes were all bandaged up
Get the keys next Friday, so all the horribleness will be gone by Monday/Tuesday. Hopefully it will be all shiny, modern, and ready to rent two weeks later...

Erm. The living room's ok... that's where the pluses finish
Re: The House Projects Thread
That’s across the road from the last flat I had in Edinburgh. I loved living round there.Nefarious wrote: ↑Tue Jan 15, 2019 5:31 pm New one purchased end of last week:

An absolute unit

^^^^ I wouldn't change a thing. You should move straight in Nef, sod renting it out.

It’s a hell of a lot nicer than monochrome or a bland beige fest!
Jobbo, as you will soon have a flat roof, will it be compulsory to fight when visiting or is it only if also having a drink ?
Dave!

Yeah, we’re going to have two fridges full of Stella.
Re: The House Projects Thread
Random question - does anyone have recommendations for LED flood lights?
Our ancient halogen one in the back garden ist kaput so I need to source a replacement and most seem to have transitioned to LED these days.

Re: The House Projects Thread
I replaced 2 yesterday with the Screwfix LAP 10 watt ones to replace the previous 2 which died from uv damage. No idea how well they will last though.
How about not having a sig at all?

Re: The House Projects Thread
I've just used whatever b&q / screw fix have for about £30-£40.
I've tried a few of the eBay ones and while they have been brighter have had dubious waterproofing, dodgy safety ( earths not connected) and started strobing within 6 months.
I think it's 30 watts, and while not a patch on a proper 500w halogen is plenty bright enough to illuminate the back of the house and parking area.
