Good reason to buy a new set of tyres whenever you acquire a second hand car

Loads do - Audis do, for instance. The RS6 doesn't come with it as standard but you can fit one.
Is that factory fit option or do you mean buy one that fits a normal A6 and there's space to fit it in?

From a quick google it doesn't look like any of the Audi RS models come with a space saver.

These are big tyres, 275 19" on the back and they weigh so much that the suspension really struggles to cope with minor potholes and ridges.
The whole car shudders as the dampers try to cope. Would love to swap them for non runflats, but then for some reason there is no under floor storage in the boot like there normally is to take a space saver.

Don't know why not. The fuel tank is pretty small (only 65l) so I don't know where the space has gone
Because for 99.99% of journeys you're carrying around an extra 25kg or so that you don't need which has an effect on economy and performance. And they've mitigated the 0.01% by sticking runflats on the car.

Non-runflats on the X5 made a huge difference. the 315/35/20s runflats were ridiculously heavy and it rode like absolute shit with them on.

The F-Pace comes with 3 options.
1. Tyre foam and a compressor. No jack or owt.
2. Space saver plus jack n shizzle
3. Full sjze spare plus jack n shizzle.

We bought the showroom car as the spec was bob-on. Except it had a full size spare.

Opting for that means your boot space goes from this:

To this:

Erm....no.

So i got them to put a normal floor panel in. We kept the 22" spare plus jack and everything. I flung a space-saver in that i got on ebay (unused). Sorted. Although a 19" steel space saver seems to weigh as much as the 22" wheel/tyre combo. :?

The S-models do; the same 20" space saver will fit the RS6.

It's certainly not true that all 'sports' cars have omitted them for 18 years.

The original question wasn't 'sports cars' though (and I don't consider S-model Audi's as sports cars) - Mito question was in relation to "performance cars" which to me, if you're including Audis and BMWs, has to mean RS and M models and AMG for Mercedes. I don't think any of that stuff comes with a spare, nor seemingly does much more logical stuff such as Mik's f-pace.

OK, performance then - I think a 450bhp Audi S6 counts as a performance model? And don't you remember Chris Harris's video a few years ago of a C63 AMG on four space-savers, so I imagine that came with them.

Another question - how many electric cars come with a spare as the weight saving is so crucial with them? i3 doesn’t (mainly because there’s no room for one!) but what about Tesla’s and the Leaf?
How about not having a sig at all?

To me the S models are performance orientated but are not the full on performance models. The autocar review of that car makes the point in several places:

https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/audi/s6

They variously call it the "warm" version of the A6 and the "semi-sporting" model. They do acknowledge that it is a little odd to say that of a car which has 444hp but this is 2018 after all and remember an RS6 had just shy of 600hp 10 years ago...

I admit you may have found the exception that proves the rule in the C63.

I have an exhaust where a spare would go.

You could probably fit a 996.1 spare in the front of the 997 - not sure it would fit over the S front brakes though - most likely not.

Of all the flippant comments I've made on here - this was probably one of the mildest (and nearest to being correct) :D

Not if you've got a mahoosive dent in your rim it won't. Or a blow out. I had one of those in the Saab on the way to the airport. I changed it on the hard shoulder of the M5 and still caught our flight. If I didn't have the spare, we would have missed our flight.

Oh, and JL, get bent. :P It was the choice between hitting a pothole or a truck so I chose the less painful option.

Agreed. Tyreweld won’t help if your doors fall off either.

Is that right? I've never seen a picture of a 996.2 or turbo with a space saver in the front boot. Did they lie it flat under the frunk floor?
