Didn't realise how bad it was, but since this the last few years I've had small micro cracks appearing in the plaster as things have been drying out. Humidity used to be 75ish, but now hovers below 60 for the most part.
Ours is mainly as we want to limit the amount of dog smell in the house
Never seems to go above 65% for humidity, the garage is 60% all year round with the dehumidifier set to auto 24/7.
