Thanks chaps, it is indeed very shitty.

I was sent some CCTV by a near neighbour today - two what looked like quads going past, then a few mins later, coming back one of them towing something large and black. It was 00:40 and crappy Ring footage so no real fucking use but I sent it on to the police anyway. Made me feel sick watching it tbh.

I'm hoping the insurance will pay out at least the trade-in offer after they've taken the £975 excess off, but we'll see. I posted the keys off yesterday so that's drawn a line under it for me.

I think it'll be a while before I dare leave it at hers again overnight, even though the new one has two locks and a tracker on it now. They are moving house in a couple of months so will have a garage to put it in overnight then.

To me it is, yes. I don't like what BMW have done with the 1300 iteration of the boxer engine, it's lost all it's soul and character. And the gearboxes are demonstrably worse. I've ridden the RS RT and GS examples of the 1300s now and didn't like any of them.

My bike has adaptive cruise control, and a speed limit display if you enable the connected ride, but that's about it. You can option front and rear random-brake-assist-me-into-a-ditch on the new ones, but its not mandatory thankfully.

Stolen R1250GS Update:

There is no sign of the bike, or the insurance payout. :-\

I did spend almost £900 on "security products" for my new one, and gleefully let my insurance company know today only for them to charge me £10 more. So big thumbs up to them.

Insurance companies in utter cvnts non shocker. My mate just bought two LiteLocks, we've got away with a lot over the years but it's getting worse year on year eh. I'm a lot more picky about where I park/leave my bike these days.

So I got a letter from the DVLA today warning me my stolen bike is untaxed. LOL. It was nicked just before the end of the August so naturally I cancelled the direct debit.

There doesn't appear to be an easy way of dealing with this. Has anyone else had a vehicle pinched and run into this admin pain?

I did think about SORN but I think that's probably a bit dishonest given the circs.

Anyway, it seems making a complaint they're taking too long has greased some wheels and I just got the insurance valuation. After they've taken the excess off (£975!) I'm £2,500 ahead of the trade-in value.

So now I don't know whether to punch the cunt who took it in the face or buy him a beer. I'd still rather have not gone through it tho.
