Pistachios
Pistachios
Man/woman be hungry.
Opens bag of pistachios.
Would like an initial hit of 10-15 nuts please. But you can’t get more than two or three shelled before the next one is automatically routed to your gob. Your brain won’t allow you to just continued stockpiling the shelled ones.
Is it even possible?

Re: Pistachios
I don't understand the question. You open one at a time, surely. No one opens multiple before consuming, that's where madness lies - like people who park nose-first in a bay, or put toilet roll on the wrong way around.
As someone with severe portion instability, I like Pistachios as it allows paced consumption, unlike cashews which result in giant fistfulls at a time.

Re: Pistachios
I think this is about being unable to stop once you start eating them. Which is why I don’t buy them often. I hoover up the little corner pieces once I’ve finished them like a crack addict finding the crumbs (I assume).
Re: Pistachios
The salt and pepper ones might as well be put on an addictive substances list
How about not having a sig at all?

Re: Pistachios
I like nuts. We go through a large bag of M&S's nut selection a week, alternating between the roasted (no pistachios, but extra crunch) and the natural (with pistachios which the kids don't like, therefore more for me).

I realised today that this is also true for Nocellara olives (my clear favourite - salty buttery loveliness with no need for any other garnishings) with the stone/pit still in. I would otherwise be relentlessly ramming these into my face until the tub was empty.Matty wrote: Sat Aug 01, 2026 3:03 pm

I mean, I think that might be literally be correct. The look of them disturbs me, even before the taste does. They even look like something hatched out of them:

Agree on this and the pistachios, a kind of natural portion control systemmik wrote: Tue Aug 18, 2026 4:20 pmI realised today that this is also true for Nocellara olives (my clear favourite - salty buttery loveliness with no need for any other garnishings) with the stone/pit still in.
