Re: The House Projects Thread
Looks fantastic! What a cool project
Re: The House Projects Thread
It's quite a secluded place isn't it ?
How much does the cost of delivering materials etc contribute to the final bill ? I can't find it but I was following a chap who built a gorgeous house in the top of Scotland and I remember delivery being a constant headache. If it helps he was a music producer of some sort and commuted in an RS6 for a while.
It was a really good read.

Steve Carter (was HighlandRampage on twitter). Gordon Murray has a house close to his.
(I chatted to him as I wanted to get the score to one of his tracks that is on uchoob - to see if someone could create a score specific to a string quartet - but he’d discarded it

that is, quite literally, my dream home in my dream location...
I should have worked harder in School...
Re: The House Projects Thread
Particularly if (like his Neighbour (presumably Mr Murray)) you have a helicopter (as per page15).......dinny_g wrote: Wed Jul 22, 2026 1:32 pm

Aside: 5mins sleuthing didn't confirm Mr Murray as the owner of that 'copter (I didn't expect to see his name, but I thought a company operator name might give a clue), but that picture was taken for Steve's house update posted July2006, and the 'copter was operated by Honister Slate Mine from October2006, the owner of which lost their life when they crashed it in 2011.
Aircraft is still in operation, so obviously wasn't written off in that accident.

Just catching up - fantastic news!
The Evo forum really is a shadow of its former self. I remember when the internet was for the elite and now they seem to let any spastic on

Re: The House Projects Thread
Neighbour update. Since eviction they’ve filed a claim against me in the county court (for an extension to the TIGA notice which is the time available to clear their property) and made an application to the High Court where a Judge has only granted extension of time for an appeal being filed out of time. So they’re also now putting an application in the high court.
It’s all complete rubbish, vexatious and harassment. They’ve obliquely accused me of a whole bunch of criminal stuff including stealing their stamp collection
. The High Court appeal in particular should fall flat upon submission. And this all keeps ticking up more and more stress, distraction from work, and legal costs, it’s hard to describe how much this has fcuked with my life. The only benefit of the High Court application is that we might get an extended restraint order against them, which would be a massive win and prevent them from continuing their campaign of harassment.

If there’s one thing they’re really good at, it’s finding little loopholes to get an application lodged with the courts. Earlier on they had an appeal heard simply because they claimed they couldn’t hear the judge at the previous hearing. Of course they lost the appeal, because the transcript proved they had engaged fully at the previous hearing. But that whole appeal cost IRO £10k to deal with it, process, and have counsel defend. Simply because they lied about their hearing… meanwhile I’m the one who actually has significant hearing loss and wears hearing aids and I had coped fine
Re: The House Projects Thread
Is there any grounds to re-open the split of liability of legal costs ?? IIRC you have to pay yours, them theirs...
They can keep appealing if they want but if they loose, they must pay your fees ??
Something to try to discourage them

Re: The House Projects Thread
They owe me IRO £55k in legal costs (which is around half of total costs) and have refused to pay a penny of it. It’s also unknown if they have the means to pay too, however their eviction makes up for the costs as the property has reverted to my ownership now.

OK Gotcha...
The whole situation, after the initial court date, sucks...
