Just walked to the toilet and back. Think that puts me on equal mileage with Messi for this match.

It’s hilarious that there have been six red cards in the history of World Cup finals, and half of them are for Argentinian players. Shows exactly how they play.

Anyway, well done Spain, well deserved and glad it didn’t go to penalties because the Argentinian keeper might have won it for them.

Seems a bit lame - fighting when you went 120minutes with ZERO shots on target…

It wasn’t an all timer of a tournament but good for England on a great result. Obviously was happy to see Scotland have a pretty good effort (in context  )

I think what I’ve mostly taken away from this tournament is that Gen Z players have a much better attitude than their millennial forebears.

The only real diva this tournament was Ronaldo.

Agree with everything said above.. if it goes to 64 teams then my interest will probably drop to zero until the semis (maybe quarters)
Cheers,

64 teams is ridiculous.

The money hungry organisations are really spoiling things. Obviously I was mainly watching the England camp, but I'm sure it was the same for manyn teams, the players are absolutely spent.

You have UEFA expanding the European club competitions, FIFA expanding their club world cup thing and the world cup itself. All because extra games means more revenue, and in Infantino's case more votes for him.

Top players are playing upwards of 60 games a season if they manage to stay fit and if you're playing in a high intensity team / league it's too much.

Before people start saying "they get hundreds of £k a week, they can suck it up", it's not just about the players, it's about the spectacle too, because you lose a lot of pace out of the game if the players are tired which can often make it drab.

I don't think it's any coincidence that Spain and Argentina we something like 10th and 11th most minutes played by the squad going into the tournament and they made the final (I think Spain's playing style also helps).

I think even with 48 teams you're going to see a lot of players that went deep into the tournament struggle to get going or getting injured when the leagues start again.

Having the matches spread out across such vast distances was also bullshit. Just adds variables that make it less fair for certain teams.

It seems that everyone in Maputo Mozambique was very glad Argentina lost. I think it's a Messi Ronaldo thing more than a country thing as the language is Portuguese here.
