Re: The House Projects Thread
Oh Christ x2. The story up to that point in 2021 was mild. It's only the last few years that went truly wild. There's probably genuinely enough to write a book.
To give you all a small flavour - the most recent claim and bundle Gavster received from them in June was 804 pages.

Yeah, I'd be interested in that! Or a brief run-down.The whole saga has been so drawn out that it's not easy to follow.Gavster wrote: Fri Jul 17, 2026 9:18 pmOh Christjamcg wrote: Fri Jul 17, 2026 8:31 pmJust quoting to remind you that we were promised a full write upGavster wrote: Mon Nov 08, 2021 8:30 pm It genuinely is a very long story that goes back to 2016, which I'm not going to post here, at least, not until it's all over and I've got a spare weekend to write it up

Re: The House Projects Thread
I have started writing up what happened and I think it might be an entire novel lol. Going back to the very beginning and joining up the dots, I can now also see how they were also trying construct a situation back in 2018 that would have made me powerless over the freehold. I will share more, but it really is a vast amount of events, prevarications and outright duplicity to organise in a meaningful way. It really is the neighbour from hell.

And the lies. Outright lies, repeatedly.
Re: The House Projects Thread
Still no idea why anyone would go through this much hassle - them, I mean - originally over letting a surveyor in? Crazy. Must be a huge relief.
Surely you've got a picture to share....

Have you been in the flat yet?![]()

At last Gav - I didn’t catch up with this on Friday. I assume you’ll need to sell the flat to pay for your legal costs now but at least you can choose the buyer.

I will share some photos although I am genuinely scared to go in, not only is it grim and spooky inside, I'm fearful of them reappearing at the precise moment I go back inMatty wrote: Sun Jul 19, 2026 10:55 am Still no idea why anyone would go through this much hassle - them, I mean - originally over letting a surveyor in? As for why they would do it. They are hoarders who live in a parallel version of reality where they are correct and everyone else is wrong and love using the legal system to prove it. When I moved in they were in a legal battle with their extended family. As a result of their delusion, they refuse to accept help or acknowledge there's anything wrong with the dilapidated state of their home, they think a bit of chipboard and some filler is all that's needed to fix it. According to them, every single issue they face is a direct result of my actions. Their bedroom ceiling fell down because of me (it was already missing when I moved in - as I found out when I renovated my bathroom directly after moving in). They allegedly tried to renovate their property but I stopped them. They allegedly became hoarders because I was harrassing them and breaking into their flat, hence they barricaded themselves in out of fear.
Everything they say is a lie, they've lied to countless judges and accused me of countless crimes while in court which are all an utter fabrication.
Because they believe so vehemently that they are correct, they also believe the courts have failed to understand their argument, and that's why we've reached this outcome "If only a judge would listen to us properly, they'd understand". About 10 judges have listened to them, and dismissed their nonsense every time.
When someone is like that, you can't help them, and they're very aggressive about it. I offered them help countless times before they tried to sue me, in fact they randomly told me that "litigation shouldn't be necessary" when we were still friends and simply discussing a potential freehold purchase back in 2018. A 'friendly' solicitor spent months trying to help them too, and I wouldn't be surprised if he's now being sued too.
Anyway, here's the photo that started it all, when I realised things in their flat were a lot worse than I ever considered. My bathroom was renovated 2 months after I moved in. The builders lifted up some floorboards in the corner to access the pipework and told me to come and look at what they found. There was no ceiling beneath my bathroom floor, meaning we could see right down into their property. This is what we could see, standing in my bathroom and looking down through the flooboards.
It's their master bedroom.

Re: The House Projects Thread
I'm juggling finances costs and potential pathways to deal with it right now. I want to avoid selling because it would only sell at auction and would be the cheapest flat on the market due to it's condition. Therefore only appeals to developers and if a cowboy got their hands on it then it could be the start of even more headaches. I'd rather hold onto it myself, even if it's not profitable, rather than sell and open myself up to another cunt of a leaseholder.Jobbo wrote: Sun Jul 19, 2026 11:28 am At last Gav - I didn’t catch up with this on Friday. Re: The House Projects Thread
That's pretty disgusting and must have been a real issue to their health.
They clearly have issues and a sounding board between each other. It's a shame as they may have been decent people in a past life but their problem should never have been your problem, it's a sensible ending to a crazy situation.
Hoping the next steps are all clear and simple
Dave!

Re: The House Projects Thread
So glad you’ve got sorted and even more glad you’ve not ended up like this- property service housing provider prosecuted and fined for a house in similar condition. Landlord definitely no entirely innocent as some of it is right to be prosecuted for, no gas safe certificates is unforgivable, if they’re not letting you in contact gas safe and take it higher. However I imagine they’d be trying to site this case if they knew about it while in court with you
