I think France assumed it would be played out like a dead rubber and got a shock in the first half. Once they realised they were facing humiliation they arrived. If that were for a serious prize they would have been like they were in the second half and battered us.
Still, fun game and a medal for the players, I'll take it, stops a bit of the noise about our performance against Argentina and hopefully means the team are slightly less fearful going into the next tournament.

Watched the highlights this morning, that’s an incredible result for England
Not only because we beat the French, but also highest place since ‘66 and Saka the second British person to score a hatrick. Bravo, well done England
hopefully that gives them the cojones to go on the attack, it seems we’ve got the speed and skills to make it count.
