Re: Weekend toy £25k
The roof on the Boxster RS is a massive PITA. One of the guys I know in TIPEC had one and he hated it. 981 generation is where you need to be for that kind of money. It's just all round better.
If you get all wobbly-lipped about the opinion of Internet strangers, maybe it's time to take a bath with the toaster as you'll never amount to sh1t anyway.

Just like Dunc's old car...although can't remember if his was N/A or S. Either way, that's a great shout.

not a lot of love for the 190 though, even though they look fantastic.Matty wrote: Tue Jun 02, 2026 9:05 pmJust like Dunc's old car...although can't remember if his was N/A or S. Either way, that's a great shout.

The SC's are quite a bit more expensive, so that lesser demand is largely reflected in the price.Rich B wrote: Tue Jun 02, 2026 9:41 pmnot a lot of love for the 190 though, even though they look fantastic.Matty wrote: Tue Jun 02, 2026 9:05 pmJust like Dunc's old car...although can't remember if his was N/A or S. There was a Jayemm video about the 190 (elise) that i was referred to during my search which did put me off the 190 engine.

A 190 Elise isn't any faster than a decent spec S1 in a straight line. I had a few laps with a 111R round KNOCKHILL. There was nothing in it. The difference being they have to be revved to get it on cam. the S1 had more torque lower down.Rich B wrote: Tue Jun 02, 2026 11:52 pmyeah, they’re usually £8-10k more.

Not a £25k car, but maybe worth considering E89 35i's and putting the other £15k away for a rainy day/bolting on bigger turbos and a remap. I hadn't realised they'd got so relatively cheap.
Edit: that one specifically is in whitby, so pretty local
E89 (metal roof Z4), N54 six pot Ttrbo (not as reliable as N55/B58 but still pretty reliable compared to Elises/caterhams etc - it's a 'will start on a cold wet morning' car 99.9% of the time), DCT box is considered to be OK AFAIK, you'll probably fit in it, easy to get in and out of, pretty fucking quick, can be parked on the street, will do 400 miles in one hit without complaining, etc. You can spend a little more for lower mileage if you want, not that that matters much on these cars at this age, really, beyond the usual modern car toot (chain guides etc will want attention just due to age I'd expect)Hi, I will be putting my 2009 35i on Auto Trader in the next few weeks as it does not get the use it deserves. If anyone is interested beforehand, please make contact. The car drives superb, has 88k miles, full service history, Apple CarPlay and I have replaced the steering rack motor. Looking for £9,000 located in Whitby in the North East.

Re: Weekend toy £25k
Save a bit for when the high pressure fuel pump explodes and you’ll be alright
How about not having a sig at all?
Re: Weekend toy £25k
Just replace it with a better one for when you get around to buying two new turbos for 550 bhpMito Man wrote: Wed Jun 10, 2026 3:01 pm Save a bit for when the high pressure fuel pump explodes and you’ll be alright![]()

Re: Weekend toy £25k
I'll try not to take offence at that
(but yeah, for the performance and broad reliability, E89 35i's are quite the option, provided you find a specialist who can fix the roof when it inevitably has a wobble)

Re: Weekend toy £25k
If there is a coupe version I’ll generally choose it, Boxster/Cayman aside, and that gen Z4 was the closest to a coupe.Beany wrote: Thu Jun 11, 2026 6:14 pm I'll try not to take offence at that
