Harry’s Garage
Re: Harry’s Garage
I am going to have to watch this - after having lunch a week or two ago with someone who has bought one, it’ll hopefully be complimentary and keep his investment solid.
Re: Harry’s Garage
Sisters friend owns a Challenge Stradale - with the stripes, as is correct, and I've seen it a few times around Telford - but she always tells me *after* they've been to visit. "Oh, <name> stopped by today in the Ferrari, the once with the stripes"
I think she thinks I'll be overly nerdy and weird and does it on purpose.
Mega valued now though. Are they 6x better than a standard 360?

Re: Harry’s Garage
Harry seems to like it alot!
~£450k now though, blimey. When I had a very brief encounter with one many years ago in the Austrian Alps on a fairly straight road, it didn't pull away from me in my M3 CSL. At the time, I wonder why it didn't pull away... I guess as they seem to be closer to my M3 in weight (despite 'rari saying 1280kg) and the give and take level playing field of the driving quickly on the road.
Special car though, and they sound even better irl

Re: Harry’s Garage
Didn’t think they’re worth that much, there’s one parked at my flat and it’s always in an unloved state.

How about not having a sig at all?
Re: Harry’s Garage
Final bits where he was squeezing it a bit were the best.
I’ve always admired the CS without really desiring one. And nothing has changed - you’d have to REALLY want one to pay £450k!
“This one’s actually for sale - my son is selling it through Metcalffe Cars”…. less exciting. Is Harry’s channel just going to become an elaborate showroom for his boy?

Re: Harry’s Garage
How many owners of cars like these really want one, or are just buying it because they're rare/collectable and potentially increase in value?mik wrote: Sun May 10, 2026 10:28 pm

I still dislike the fact that we live in the post-covid era where unusual cars have become garage ornament investment peices for so many people rather than a toy. Remember when you could get loads of unusual stuff like RS2s, Clio V6's, 964s and so on for reasonable money?
And when did cars become recession proof? We're in a cost of living crisis, borderline recession, petrol is throught the roof, and yet the car market continues to be incredibly boyant and the toy car market is seemingly really strong. Aren't cars the first thing you ditch when money is tight?
Re: Harry’s Garage
I am told blue without stripes is the most valuable due to rarity - red with stripes is way more common.Mito Man wrote: Sun May 10, 2026 10:05 pm Didn’t think they’re worth that much, there’s one parked at my flat and it’s always in an unloved state.

There was a blue one without stripes and something like 870 miles on it that sold for £650k recently.
ETA: may have been £600k.
Re: Harry’s Garage
Resale red is not the 360's best colour. That blue, however, is gorgeous.

Re: Harry’s Garage
Annoyed I didn't save it but when I saw Harry's original post with that 928 I looked up the reg and found a link to a car and classic ad when it had been sold before...
Wonder it he discloses how much he paid for it as IIRC the ad was not a silly figure - maybe mid-20s so if he's paid hand over fist for it from THC that's not a great deal. The ad also seemed to have weird trimming on the seats with pascha extending onto the headrests so if the interior has all been re-done (which it looks like it almost certainly has), then it undermines the specialness of it being a sonderwunsch option in my eyes.
ETA - here it is - https://www.carandclassic.com/l/C1823046 anyone know how to find the interior pics?

Re: Harry’s Garage
I was randomly browsing cars a few weeks ago and a nice 928 came up, relatively low miles and it was only in the mid 20's. I thought they cost far more than that but then again it was an auto and I just assume old automatics are hateful in anything vaguely performance orientated.

This is the bit I don't particularly like about Harry's collecting is I suspect that he's bought that solely because its got a sonderwunsch interior and because he thinks it will then retain or increase in value as a result. A manual would be a better car in every respect and in a 928 S2 it wouldn't be significantly more.
Re: Harry’s Garage
I'm sure Matchbox did a 928 in that colour.
He might have got it because he likes the colour scheme and considered the auto a worthwhile compromise for how long he would have to wait for a manual equivalent to turn up. It probably makes less of a difference when you've got so many other options sat in the garage.

Re: Harry’s Garage
He does say he bought it because he loved the colour combo with a mention of the option after. I too think the colour and interior is the best thing about it, think it might be cooler than the Espada

Re: Harry’s Garage
Would a manual box really improve it much? It wouldn’t ever be a sport car would it?
I think it’s one of those cars where I’d prefer a manual, but wouldn’t avoid an auto in the right colour / condition.

Well its 100kgs lighter than my 911 so I think by today's standards its a lightweightintegrale_evo wrote: Fri May 22, 2026 7:03 pm Would a manual box really improve it much? It wouldn’t ever be a sport car would it?

I think you're forgetting about how slow/compromised autoboxes were back in 1986 (and that's probably a late 70s merc box). It would ruin it.
As it turns out - thanks to my unhealthy obsession with browing the interwebs I could have sourced him one in that colour with Pasha and a manual. Admittedly it is (was) in ZA but I'd have taken this one and shipped it back.
Interestingly it is earlier but I suspect this one has the seats Harry's would have come with before it had an interior retrim (you can see them through the glass).

ETA - after much further futile searching I can see no photo evidence of pasha on the later design chairs other than a strosek modded car. I’m reasonably convinced they aren’t right.
Re: Harry’s Garage
I was thinking Pasha was a standard cloth for the seats in a 928 so it being Sonderwunsch sounded unlikely. But it seems it was only on the earlier 928 up to 1984, not the S2, so if the car did have Pasha from new then it could be Sonderwunsch.
It’s a bit like my car having Individual paint which is just a colour from a few years ago. It’s not like his 930.

If you drive it in the stick they are absolutely fine.Mito Man wrote: Fri May 22, 2026 3:24 pm I was randomly browsing cars a few weeks ago and a nice 928 came up, relatively low miles and it was only in the mid 20's. Also remember with 4 gears you only change between 2nd and 3rd on the road as 3rd takes you to 120 and 2nd pulls hard from about 10mph.
Dave!
