It’s shite. I had the highlights on this afternoon. Looked up and they’d jumped to lap 47 or something.

It’s a shame because the cars look fun to drive when they can actually race, but cars dropping 100kph on a straight while their foot is pinned to the floor, or having to roll through corners to have enough power to squirt it down the straights is just a nonsense.

Some of the closing speeds are just mad, I’m surprised it hasn’t caught more people out. I expect Ollie is glad there’s a bit of a break thanks to Trump.

If you are bored, vote for BBC's most beautiful F1 car of all time.

(If Mark still posted here, he might be upset that there is no BT52 option....)

This thing should scare f1 bosses, if it ends up faster than f1 cars it’ll be embarrassing

F1 cars will be safe but it’s supposedly faster than the current F2. It is seriously impressive how far they’ve come though. I think there will be a point in the next decade where they will converge with F1 so hopefully this makes the people running F1 realise that hybrid V6’s aren’t the future anymore so let’s just chuck a proper engine in it!

AWD on tarmac with sticky tyres, can't see that being a recipe for entertaining racing. Now if it were on rallycross tracks....

I don't care how fast EV racing gets - it's an awful thing to actually watch

Just watched the 8 min Youtube highlights...spoler alert...

Did McLaren lose the win because they let Antonelli get the undercut on Norris?

McLaren have been in with a shout of winning the last two Grand Prix (and Norris won the Miami Sprint, of course), so there is definitely hope that the Mercedes near dominance can be broken.

GR seems to be at sea, I was expecting a bit more from him... All the assuredness he had in the first race seems to have evaporated.

Race starts aside, it's pretty hard to fault Antonelli. Very impressive.

First race I’ve seen this season, utterly farcical. Dozens of overtakes and all of them nothing to do with racing. Ooh, I’ve pressed my magic button and sailed past, oh now you’ve done it do me and repeat…

Yep McLaren ballsed up the pit stop strategy. They’ve always been quite bad at strategy and not having a considerably faster car than the competition is really hurting them.

The overtake system is weirdly frustrating rather than exciting. Seems like it’s unnecessarily drawn out with the clearly slower car able to whizz past for a few attempts before finally succumbing so I think maybe not giving the car behind the additional electrical harvesting would be better but then yesterday in the sprint there was barely any overtaking so it’s all very odd.

Enjoying Antonelli’s rise though, wonder if the confidence will turn him into an absolute beast.

Nice to see more cars mixing it up at the front, still feels very artificial with all the back and forward before eventually the order settles out where you expect.

Shame there wasn’t any actual rain.

Has anyone seen anything about what was going on with leclerc at the end? All looked very odd.

Hit the wall, broken suspension arms and limped over the line

Post race penalties- max got a 5 second penalty which would move him behind Charles, except for

Charles got penalised for the last lap, specifically missing most of the corners, so he was given a drive through penalty for it, which is converted to a 20 second race time penalty. Moves him into 8th and promotes Lewis and colapinto higher up

I don't really see why this way of allowing a faster car behind a better chance to follow and overtake is any more artificial or less enjoyable than giving the guy behind DRS at the same place on the track every time he gets close. The DRS trains in recent years made the racing woeful. This way, as we saw yesterday, the extra dicing can man more opportunities for other cars to arrive on the scene as well.

It should be duncs, agreed, but watching another race it is somehow much worse.

When do they hit the boxes to get a red or green shell ?

It's bullshit racing, what a joke.
