EV Thread
Re: EV Thread
Wouldn’t let that put you off. Most of the towns along the England-Wales border have rapid chargers now and Llandrinidod Wells has a few. Lots of the towns around there have 22kw AC (R5 will take 11kw) if you’re really in a pinch.
Re: EV Thread
Im not up to speed and didn't realise you're the R5. One of the lads got one for his Mrs (himself) and loves it. Look great too!Jobbo wrote: Fri Feb 13, 2026 12:59 pm I think our R5 is genuinely fun. Downside is that the range isn't sufficient to drive to the Elan Valley and back so I won't take it out for a fun day's driving.
Apparently the mini does close to 300 miles which means 200

Saw one of the Renault 4 evs the other day. Smaller than I expected, looks cool.

Honda seem to be desperate to sell some eny1s again, if anyone is after some cheap EV motoring.

Re: EV Thread
Shame I’m not ready to go ev yet, that’s quite the discount
Re: EV Thread
Went for it - looks like I'll be 3 days in office soon so something comfier with adaptive cruise was calling me. Also, much as I love the i3, it doesn't really work for us with tall and growing kids in the back.
Nice 2019 i3S, 72k miles, grey with brown leather, will be up for sale in a couple of weeks - give me a shout if interested.

That's a pretty incredible deal - they look well specced too as standard.simon_g wrote: Mon Mar 02, 2026 10:37 am Honda seem to be desperate to sell some eny1s again, if anyone is after some cheap EV motoring.

I believe that is only for the black cars which may now be all allocated, it will be £10-20 more for alternative colours.
Re: EV Thread
Mine is from Marshalls in Reading. Apparently Honda have about 1000 of them, they're letting dealers market it.
https://www.marshall.co.uk/honda/new-car-offers/eny1/
My quote with £700 paint is
Cash price £32,740.00 (after the £8750 "Honda EV grant')
Total deposit £10,500.00. (this is 10k contribution from Honda, £500 from me)
Retailer contribution £3,206.00
47 Monthly payments of £207.18
Interest charges £0.00
Option to purchase fee £0.00
Optional final payment £9,296.35
Total charge for credit £0.00
Rate of interest (fixed) 0.00%
Total amount payable £32,740.00
APR 0.0%
Mileage per annum 8,000 miles
Excess mileage charge 4.92p (plus VAT
So £19533 from me, just over half dripped over 4 years, rest at the end. If you took it for 4 years and handed back then average of £213pm.
No black left apparently, so have to take a colour now.

Re: EV Thread
So, are Taycan prices going to stop tanking now oil is going through the roof? I suspect demand for EVs may increase.

Re: EV Thread
There may be an adjustment depending on how long the conflict continues, but oil isn’t at the highs of 2022 (yet) and elec cars now have to pay VED so I’d guess not much will change..
ETA - but if you’re trying to convince the missus that one would be a sensible purchase, then absolutely! Will probably double in value over 3 years

Re: EV Thread
Still anecdotal, but looking within five miles of home, prices are up 2-12p/litre since I filled up last week. That's across the board, with The nearest Shell at 1.469 as the high petrol mark.

I told my dad on the day the war started to quickly order heating oil. He got it for 62p, just looking now and it’s £1.30!
Really glad the Tesla is all fixed up in time as driving to London last night I could see a lot of pumps were getting empty. Should be fine until the rolling blackouts start

How about not having a sig at all?

Re: EV Thread
Thought you’d have ground source heat pumps @Mito Man .. are they not economical yet?
Cheers,

Re: EV Thread
Would have to go to three phase and the cost of that alone is uneconomical. Basically not worth doing until oil heating is banned.IanF wrote: Mon Mar 09, 2026 9:42 am Thought you’d have ground source heat pumps @Mito Man .. are they not economical yet?

My Dad and Brother tried the same but the Oil Companies aren't accepting Payment in advance - Bill will be the price on the day...Mito Man wrote: Mon Mar 09, 2026 9:35 am I told my dad on the day the war started to quickly order heating oil. He got it for 62p, just looking now and it’s £1.30!
Re: EV Thread
Yeah, receiving the letter from the DVLA to tax the R5 was a bit annoying. Just over £100 for the year isn't too bad though.
Fuel prices near us are seemingly random; some places still selling at the old prices, some ramping up 30-40p/litre. I guess it's all in anticipation of the next delivery being more expensive.
Managed to get 1100 litres of oil for home at 55p/litre a couple of weeks ago - that was good timing, but I could have fitted 1500l in the tank and regret not filling it now

Does your wood burner heat your water too? They seem to be more widespread now and seem like a great solution.V8Granite wrote: Mon Mar 09, 2026 11:02 amGod bless a woodburnerdinny_g wrote: Mon Mar 09, 2026 9:59 amMy Dad and Brother tried the same but the Oil Companies aren't accepting Payment in advance - Bill will be the price on the day...Mito Man wrote: Mon Mar 09, 2026 9:35 am I told my dad on the day the war started to quickly order heating oil.
