I think I can live with thatDeskJockey wrote: Fri Feb 13, 2026 11:31 am I like that a lot. Very cool and different.
Although I think they've failed. They mention that the watch's namesake can be found as deep as 6000 metres, yet they've only designed it to withstand pressure down to 600 metres. So you can't go deep sea fishing for sea urchins wearing the watch named after them.
I’m not aware of any mechanical sub homages in that price range but Watchdives have an offer on one of their Quartz ones: https://watchdives.com/collections/all- ... dive-watchDeskJockey wrote: Sat Feb 28, 2026 6:13 pm Hive mind, I needs helps.
The eldest is liking watches, and covets a "US Polo Association" submariner knock-off at our local TK Maxx. Never heard of the brand and it looks a little rough in pictures (with a supposed RRP of £250ish). They list it for £54.
Anyone know it or can recommend a better option in the same price range (£60 tops)? He's spending his own money, so I'm using it to teach caution.
It's a bit more money c£180 but the best Submariner homage I've come across is the CronosDeskJockey wrote: Sat Feb 28, 2026 9:08 pm Cheers. The internals are of no consequence to him, he likes the look. I'll have a look, the Invicta doesn't look bad. I've got some of their watches, but the cheaper stuff was quite cheap in feel and look, but that one looks better.
It’s the writing in the post that gets meDeskJockey wrote: Sat Mar 07, 2026 10:31 pm I'm sorry, but is your watch meant to look like that or did it get run over by a train?
That's a bit of a steal - and like you say, it has the newer movement now and a much improved clasp - you got a great watch for the money thereJobbo wrote: Tue Apr 07, 2026 10:42 am I'm still a sucker for a Seiko and always liked the 62MAS recreations. They're over £1000 now so not really a whim purchase. However, when I spotted the teal dial special edition (a Save The Ocean one though quite a different colour to the blues they've done of other models) at a serious discount I placed an order: https://www.firstclasswatches.co.uk/sei ... -p-205039/
They now come with a 72 hour power reserve and a clasp with on the fly micro-adjustment like a Rolex Glidelock, so perhaps justify the price a bit better. I've not bought any watches for a couple of years so look forward to this one.
