Very obvious Apple (well, Jony Ive’s) influence, but steering wheel has a nice clean design and slim profile.. guess the padels are for regen, 500km range and power figures may be indicative of targets or “real world” figures; nothing extraordinary though

That’s a very flat seat base and a very utilitarian looking interior. i presume it’s an SUV or something else very un-ferrari like.

That is a pretty terrible mix of retro and modern. I guess the car is pretty soulless and they’ve followed most other EV manufacturers by making it look retro.
How about not having a sig at all?

it reminds me of a sort of retro Ford concept car look from 20 years ago. i’d imagine it in the new bronco or something.

Really? Flat bottomed wheel with indicators as buttons is a terrible choice for a road car. And the oversized regen paddles are rather laughable.
They can talk non stop gibberish for days though. “The result is an interface where the physical and digital actually talk to each other. Press a physical button on the steering wheel and the display behind it responds — not with a static icon, but with a dynamic graphic that expands to show you more information”
Wonder what they wrote in those 4 volumes - absolute bollocks I imagine.

to be fair, you read the bit Mito quoted, where they explained how buttons work like it was some sort of revolution!?
I expect there’s a whole volume dedicated to the way the steering wheel transmits its movement to the driving wheels like it’s something Ferrari weren’t aware of!

I think he's probably right
As someone that owns a Jony Ive designed Montblanc pen (so I'm not inherently averse), that design language doesn't work in a car for me. Its so obviously a product of his mind that its almost like a "special edition" version of a normal car where they've ripped out its regular interior and put an iPod homage in. I think its the overly rounded edges of the screens that scream out. Not for me.

Thanks for linking the article, that was a good read.
Whilst there's no doubt that Jony Ive is someone who definitely loves to sniff his own farts, I do love his design work. It's when he's given too much leeway and isn't challenged that the problems start, but all this stuff looks lovely.
The design of the indicator buttons themselves are the bit that just doesn't look right to me, but I'm assuming part of the brief would have been around not going backwards to things like stalks, but clearly for things to be, or feel more analogue.
He's right about the touchscreen stuff though. I'm hoping car manufacturers start to rethink that a bit and find a better solution with some touch and some physical controls.
