New Twingo looks ace.
Sliding rear seats like the Inster so even lanky rear passengers (presenter is 6'5") can have room, at the expense of some boot space.

Re: EV Thread
Awesome. Would love to see a resurgence of the small car. Renault are nailing it at the mo.
Re: EV Thread
We seriously considered importing a series1 Twingo for mrs mik, but LHD was a step too far for her.
Series2 and later didn't have anywhere near the same funky-factor in the styling. Like series 1 Ka vs later fuglies.
That looks great though

Looks
I dont get why small cars have to be 5 door these days though. They are rarely used 4 up and access all round is compromised with short doors and apertures as is visibility with a b post in front of my shoulders. They also look better as 3 doors and must be cheaper to build!
May be a tall fat person problem though?

Europeans love them. I think the UK is an outlier in terms of having a good market for 3dr versions.Carlos wrote: Fri Nov 07, 2025 12:51 pm Looks![]()

Re: EV Thread
Genuinely the biggest realworld advantage the M135i (five door) had over the E46 and the E86 - just not having to think about parking space separation/positioning that much.

Re: EV Thread
meh, i hate the look of 4/5 doors - i always chose 2/3 for my cars.
Re: EV Thread
Must admit I do prefer the practicality 4drs gives, bigger cars carry it off better mind you.
Much as I'm a bit Marmite with my Ioniq6, I can see the appeal in the new N variant.. bit more aggression, and 2.5x the shove

Don't mind the front, but back just doesn't work for me. I get it is for efficiency/aero, but it looks out of proportion.

Re: EV Thread
The mk2 twingo had sliding seats that also had the option to fold the backs down then roll forward for maximum boot space on every model (except rs cup models) A feature I used to great effect to essentially turn my full fat renaultsport into a little work van. With the seats all the way back I could fit in the back behind my drivers seat with comfort (I’m 6ft) Glad to see they’ve continued the theme of maximum practicality in the smallest package theme.simon_g wrote: Fri Nov 07, 2025 11:23 am

Exterior styling is excellent, they should be capitalising on the 2.0l engined mk1 twingo that has entered the Nurburgring 24hr race and fling them some sponsorship money
Re: EV Thread
I go through this every day without changing cars. When I’m with the wife, she has a blue badge so park in a disabled bay and not worry about anything. Out by myself and I park in a normal space and struggle to get out of the bloody carBeany wrote: Fri Nov 07, 2025 6:59 pmGenuinely the biggest realworld advantage the M135i (five door) had over the E46 and the E86 - just not having to think about parking space separation/positioning that much.

Re: EV Thread
I really like the look of it and the idea of it but I struggle to think when I would really use it. It would have to be a second car as the battery size and lack of super fast charging would restrict going anywhere far away. I live 35 mins down some single carriage A-roads and dual carriageway from where I work and I kind of like comfy cruising and being able to speedily overtake farm traffic where necessary. If I lived closer, this might make more sense but if I lived closer I would probably use public transport more. Maybe I can make a case for ditching the tesla and having a grand tourer esque 2+2 for longer journeys / fun and this for work/everyday.... but I suspect I would just drive the fun car.simon_g wrote: Fri Nov 07, 2025 11:23 am New Twingo looks ace.

Maybe this makes more sense for suburban shopping/living/getting into parking spaces but for me it doesn't really work.
Re: EV Thread
Fairly sure it looks like a Twingo.

Re: EV Thread
I meant in terms of specs. It’s Renault 5 based but everything turned down to cheap as possible.
How about not having a sig at all?

Re: EV Thread
I don’t think that’s a bad plan - we need small cheap EVs as well as 2.4 ton SUVs.Mito Man wrote: Sun Nov 09, 2025 4:58 pm I meant in terms of specs. It’s Renault 5 based but everything turned down to cheap as possible.
Re: EV Thread
Yeah, it's not like the earlier Twingos weren't cut down, cost reduced Clios or anything
It's not for me either (specifically, I don't have the space nor ability to charge at home) but I'm glad it exists, doesn't weigh as much as the sun and is planned to be at a reasonable price.

Re: EV Thread
Wasn’t the previous Twingo pulled from the UK because no one wanted a cheaper cut down Clio? It cost like £15 less to lease per month and you got a 1/3 less car.
A lot of these cheap cars just don’t work here and then with EVs you’ve got the range limitations.

Re: EV Thread
They decided not to sell it here because they didn’t want to take sales away from the clio, which I assume they also made more money on. Wasn’t really worth them engineering it to rhd only to take sales from elsewhere.
