I feel like it’s targeting an older audience because the garden is totally maintenance free. I know a few people who concrete slabbed their entire garden when they got past retirement age but you’d probably want a bungalow if moving into something entirely new

I think “targeting” is giving a little too much credit, it looks like that tall slab of a gable end is putting the short garden into constant shadow - so probably difficult to grow much.

It’s just a poor design, The houses next to it have a much less imposing rear elevation that with the pitch going the other direction and a single story part with skylights sticking out that means the shadows in the garden won’t be as much of an issue.

"There are no bad products, just bad prices" is a phrase I've heard bandied about. Which for most things (that aren't broken) is true enough.

As for that front door, I can hear the electronic doorbell of a trade desk going off when it opens, and the footsteps of someone in big boots coming to the desk to ask what tool you'd like to hire.

Bear in mind this was originally built for a totally different purpose… and apparently there is thick reinforced concrete under those slabs which would have been a lot of work to excavate.
Not trying to excuse it, but to explain.

But yes, the back of my house is much nicer (I also have a nicer door, and no cladding).
