Unless you were moving to a very specific part of Cardiff and had no off-road parking it wouldn't matter anyway loldinny_g wrote: Fri Oct 17, 2025 8:42 am My GLC is 2405 kg so just over the threshold...

Same council who then bitch and cry that the high street is dying and can’t figure out why.
How about not having a sig at all?

I'm more interested about the lines that 'residents permits in the city centre would be scrapped'. So, if you happen to live in the city centre just basically fuck off then? Christ what a way to treat your residents and tax payers.

Jesus Christ, this only applies to residential parking in certain areas.

It reminds me of years ago when this group was campaigning that electric cars should pay VED. It’s pretty hilarious though that they just shafted themselves when in the future they’ll most likely be in an EV…
Just wait until a city car weighs 2.5 tonnes in 5 years time.

While the evoke absolutely is a cunts car, it only weights 1800kg and is shorter than a lot of normal cars so a pretty poor example to use…

Are you sure it wasn’t a 2 hour bay? They often show the maximum charge being taken before you get the money adjustedGavster wrote: Fri Oct 17, 2025 8:40 am As bad as Islington. I went to park on a regular on-street bay for 1 hour, opened RingGo, added the bay number (61562) which said about £7 an hour, went through to the final screen and it said £14.25. For one hour, because diesel. On a residential street in Islington. FML.

Ahhh possibly that was it. But it did say that on the pay screen, so looked like it was amount Apple Pay was going to take and scared me off. Instead I parked in a resident's bay opposite the restaurant and kept an eye on the car for wardens.IanF wrote: Fri Oct 17, 2025 10:56 amAre you sure it wasn’t a 2 hour bay? Really? Is that not the gross laden weight? I'd have taken a guess at around 2000kg or just over.

People seem to lump anything that is tall into the planet killing 4x4 class. My wife changed her car from a Ford Focus to a Suzuki Vitara. An acquaintance asked her why she wanted a "big SUV", the Vitara is both smaller and better on fuel than the Focusintegrale_evo wrote: Fri Oct 17, 2025 10:50 am While the evoke absolutely is a cunts car, it only weights 1800kg and is shorter than a lot of normal cars so a pretty poor example to use…

They haven't said which weight they'll be using though...not that it'll matter in Newport.

Well, that depends on if it's an African GLC or a European GLC.

I got blocked on twitter by a Novara journo because I pointed out that a Renault Kadjar isn’t a “gas guzzling SUV”John wrote: Fri Oct 17, 2025 11:43 amPeople seem to lump anything that is tall into the planet killing 4x4 class. Living in a city I can see why something might have to be done about the increasing size of cars though. It’s not like roads are getting bigger. Parking round me is already a nightmare.
Like, no one really needs a car the size of an X7 if you live in a tenement flat.
