And the great thing about consoles is all the drivers are on similar equipment and not the latest AMD 99X/6090 quantum computer.. it’s like Apple vs Android all over again! 😂

Similarly, it's the console gamers you want to avoid!

I'm currently enjoying the odd game of Helldivers2, and the level of toxicity since I've turned off crossplay (so exclusively playing with PC owners) has dropped to almost zero. I'm willing to bet that on racing sims, the majority of shitty behvaiour comes from console owning peasants.

Alas not me.

There used to be a few other Matt's on the old Evo forum, but I think I'm pretty much exclusive on here AFAIK.

GT3. Have been enjoying the Renault RS01: why TF did they never make a road version of this thing?

Take pole in a small but fast group. 0.38s faster than anyone else, with some consistency - my next two fastest laps would also have taken pole (by a smaller margin - duh). This is looking pretty good. :o

Nail a feckin demon start. 8-)

Get absolutely wiped out at T1 by P5, whose also made a very good start, but is focussing more on making up a few places than they are on their braking point. <sigh> :(

Not intentional at all, but my destroyer went on to win the race too…. bah

And yes it’s a phone vid of my tellybox - no idea how to capture the screen properly.

It's a very very cool looking thing and fast too but judging by the photos attached to this one for sale it'd be a nightmare to get anywhere near roadable, tiny doors, tiny cabin, semi-stressed engine mounting direct to the tub. That and ~$300k new...

Green car in your race really did the classic damage off GT "corner by ricochet" technique.

Doors don’t look much worse than a Valkyrie, which I am aware is a road car by definition only and not by comfort levels

mik wrote: Wed Sep 17, 2025 12:41 pm And now I'm wondering which is the best way to jump.

I've kinda discounted 2nd hand consoles, as they aren't usually that much cheaper, you don't know how much they've been used, and you lose some/all manufacturer warranty.

So looking at new :

a/ PS5 Disc. Around £420 with 1TB storage
b/ XBox. Similar money for the console, but I'll also need a Brook Raslution (or equivalent) converter for my wheel/pedals. Call it £525-ish all in.
c/ Just get a PC. Decent spec for £1000 :?:

:?
So today I picked up a PS5 Disc-edition off facebook marketplace. Seller sent me a video of it booting up, and another showing a disc being inserted, and then ejected. No marks on the unit or the contoller. All looked good. Claimed to be barely played, and looked like it. Negotiated a good price as I have no need for "FC24" that they were selling it with.

They were having a kids halloween party when I went to collect it - A pirate answered the door and just said "don't ask mate". Had a quick look in the box - paid monies - left.

Got home and only one of the (ugly and cheap) feet you install to side-mount the unit was present in the box. Bit of a shame. Then I heard a slight rattle when I was plugging in the HDMI cable. Shook it. Rattle rattle from the disc drive. Great  This is what I get for trying to be tight.

Inserted a disc. "Disc cannot be read". Ejected it and tried another. "Disc cannot be read".

Hmmm.... missing plastic foot. Young children. Rattle from disc drive. I know where that foot is.....

I’m sure the seller had absolutely no idea there was anything wrong…. 🧐

Disc drive comes off very easily so I did just that and gave it a shake. Clearly something in there, but nothing is going to come out of the slim disc insert/eject aperture….

Popped onto youtube for some guidance, and within 10mins I had the drive open - revealing said plastic item. Once removed - all working perfectly 8-)

Project Motor Racing pre-order completed. Exciting. 8-)

Only via iRacing at this point - which is still significant (and you wouldn't want someone gaining a licence by demonstrating capability on a SimCade game).

Project Motor Racing pre-order completed. Exciting. 8-)
Released yesterday. :o

What a crushing dissapointment.

Teh interweb is awash with frustration and negative comments from Joseph Public.

The only real positive was successfully entering an online lobby with @scotta last night. Twice. So cross-play (me on PS5, him on XBox, others in the lobby on PC) does actually work 8-) . But we each had 10+ other online lobby entry attempts that failed, kicked us out of the lobby, or kicked us out of the game entirely.

Force-feedback setup is extremely complex (with a load of universal settings as you'd expect, and then individual settings for each car.... which is a bit weird). On first attempt it was clear that I had surface detail, but practically zero force-feedback - after a couple of hours it became apparent that this is an issue affecting all PS5 users only - xbox and PC aren't impacted. Awaiting a patch before I can really assess this element then, but I managed to turn various "boost" settings upto nearly max to give me some force feedback, and..... physics feels questionable. In a number of areas. Which is the biggest issue, as it's unlikely to be easily addressed in any reasonable timeframe :?:

AI currently drive into you if you are alongside making a pass. Apparently due to a last minute change that removed their awareness. Patch promised. That doesn't really bother me as I have no intention of racing AI - once I'd completed the licence (required to qualify to enter online events) that's probably the last I will see of them.

I was expecting radar, or at least some proximity markers. Currently none, and with mirror views being pretty restricted..... close driving is extremely perrilous.

Not sure whether to wait for the PS5 force-feedback patch and then make a call, or to just request a refund immediately, as this product feels a loooong way from being release-ready. :? Gutted.

Its an absolute bin fire. Should never have been launched in this state. To add insult Xbox have declined my refund as its beyond 14 days since the order...Thats the whole point of a pre-order.

Consumer goods act still provides 6 months for you to reject the item if it's faulty, although I assume you then have to explain what is faulty about it. Which shouldn't be too tricky really......

Kinda expected though, Project Cars 3 was a sack of shite and then this was based off Farming Sim game engine FFS. How can they possible make that right. I don’t think they had a public beta either which for an unknown studio is a red flag.

Must have missed when you ordered it, but it you can get a refund buy Le Mans ultimate instead. It’s supposed to have the best physics for a console game.

Refunded. Too many bugs imo. Its fundamentally broken.

Im not alone. Loads of comments of people getting refunds. Bad news for the developer.
