That mule is excellent. I always loved the spy shots of it at the time and the Car magazine drawing of the Pathfinder to show what it was going to look like. It was clearly drawn from memory by someone who had had a quick glimpse at a styling proposal for the Freelander 😄

While I love it, there were plenty of oddities like that 6-cyl MG Metro - many of which weren't obvious unless you looked at the details. One particularly intrigued me; it was a Land Rover built as a Shaun the Sheep promo vehicle, with a Q plate, a wheelbase too long for its body and 6-stud hubs. Underneath it looked consistent with a Land Rover's running gear. The info plaque said something about it being built from parts lying around (IIRC) but which Land Rover products have 6-stud hubs?

That's insanely cool! Never knew that existed before but can think of loads of uses for one up this way.
Cheers,

Mike.

I know the forward control had 6-stud hubs but why on earth would they have done that? It's not as if it's supposed to be anything other than a Land Rover with some Shaun the Sheep stickers on it; standard axles would have been around in more quantity when the Defender was still being produced.

Yes but it needed to be in vw caddy body panels, or a badly proportioned cut and shut cayenne

That is a bit of an oddball isn’t it.

Found a short article about it, definitely thrown together from bits they had lying around.

Actually I bet the axles were leftovers from when they built a few of these for the Stallone Judge Dredd movie
