Explosive Newt wrote: Mon Jun 23, 2025 2:33 pm No, there were two generations of XKR-S. 4.2L (which, further reading tells me was SVO built and capped to 200 units) and the 5.0L which came around in 2011/12 (uncapped production).
But the original was, according to Wikipedia, a 2009 model car made in 2008 and had different front bumper and alloys to that one. Being a 2007 I assume it's just an early normal XKR with the front bumper and alloys changed. And possibly bonnet.

All I can say is that the owner had a laminated bit of A4 in the windscreen proclaiming it thus. I would imagine the Jag owners club would police this aggressively.

That said, I don't think the vents at the top of the front bumper were there on the early XKR-S.

What’s the plural of Lotus, Lotus’s, Loti?

I think I’ve seen every variation of every model travelling through Hope today. It must have taken a good half an hour for them all to pass 8-)

i popped to my local lotus guy today because the hub bolt had decided to come loose on my front left wheel (and the wheel was wobbling like an Asda shopping trolley). He had some pretty cool stuff in: 2 Elans (proper rwd ones), an Esprit V8, an early 928 and an american plated Alfa junior 1300 that was even louder than my elise.

Last time i was there he had an Esprit Essex in too which massively floats my boat.

Not my photo but I did spot that plate on a Rolls Phantom some years ago in Birmingham. Belongs to the boss of Pertemps.

I don’t understand why you’d modify the early S to look like the later one, particularly when you’d be throwing away the lovely forged wheels.
They were modified post-production and doubt they were homologated/registered as a unique model at the DVLA. It’s been a few years, but I was on the dealer preview at Gaydon and I think the easy tell would be that the early car has standard seats rather than the later sports seats.

And having checked the MOT history, not long for this world 🙁 Current MOT expires in just over two weeks and it had quite a list of advisories last year.

Such is the way of things.

I've considered picking up a Puma again, but they're either £2k and need extensive welding, or they're £5k, and will need extensive welding in about two years....

Jesus, that's terrible.

You had to see a Cygnet, and on top of that, it was in Wick.

Is there a charity I can donate to, to help you through this difficult experience?
