Our house is right on the flightpath for Mildenhall (Ely) and the activity seems very variable. Sometimes you might get 10 or more coming in inside a day, other days nowt. Been up and down for ages.integrale_evo wrote: ↑Wed Apr 09, 2025 10:40 am There’s been a lot of stratotanker activity over the last few days, I didn’t get to my phone quick enough to see the height, but one came directly overhead lower than I’ve ever seen a big jet outside of an air show or airport!
I’m no aviation expert so hard to judge, but others seem to cruise by at ~ 2500ft, so this was probably under 1000ft
Looks like they’re out and about again today.
Occasionally we see the Rivet Joint spy planes. That's fun.

A bit late this one, t'other day (week
) I saw a silhouette from afar against grey sky that made me
Twin props mounted in near the fuselage on overhead mounted wings and a distinctly shaped nose & underside, I was sure I recognized it but couldn't remember the name
It took a while to find it because round these parts the normal google buzzwords bring up other things, but got there eventually and, as poor a view as I got, it's a spot I'm very happy to have made;

Based at IWM duxford, worth a visit if you’re near

Hell yeah - brilliant day out, even if you're not that into planes. And I do mean Day out as there's so much to see.
I'm well overdue a visit - last time I went, the American Hanger was being done up so it will be good to see the SR-71 back in it's proper home.

It's worth a visit even if you're not near. I was surprised by how small the B52 fuselage was, got to tick off the 2nd TSR-2 and add another Concorde to the list.dinny_g wrote: ↑Mon Jun 02, 2025 8:49 amHell yeah - brilliant day out, even if you're not that into planes.
