That was my fear but he was really sound guy, and a biker too. Couldn't have been more helpful and took an offer without hesitation. He even drove it back to mine for me at 8pm last night.Gavster wrote: Thu May 29, 2025 8:27 am Looks lovelynice purchase, what was the seller like? I'm a big fan of Fb marketplace for buying and selling stuff, but it can be a complete lottery.

Yes lol it's comedy bad. The SatNav is utter crap with an unfathomable UI and cannot be updated past 2020. I don;t really care I just use my phone anyway. But it's simple enough to stream spotify from my phone.Sundayjumper wrote: Thu May 29, 2025 8:43 am Does it have the same crappy infotainment as my 2012 Disco ? A 2012 BMW is *vastly* better.
Has the Bowers & Wilkins upgraded hifi which sounds pretty good too. And air conditioned seats!

I know you asked SJ, but last IPA I bought was from this ebay seller https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/282529382616. Fast delivery, well packaged etc etc.tim wrote: Thu May 29, 2025 10:52 amGotta link to that stuff?Sundayjumper wrote: Thu May 29, 2025 8:43 am Not sure about the specific buttons here but IPA (no, not the beer, the other IPA) should clean it off.
Also worth trying this stuff - available online or in B&Q etc. First recommended to me by Richard Tipper (Perfection Valet) for removing chewing gum from my son's rear seat (car), but it's useful in many many many scenarios.

Wot Mik sed abov re IPA.
Dab it onto a cloth and gently wipe the buttons. It might just take off the top sticky layer, it might take it right back to bare plastic - which won't be ideal if the plastic underneath is white. Maybe try it on your least favourite buttons first.

IIRC, that was the 2.7 with the 6 speed ZF. Tim's engine is 0.3 more betterer and is the very well regarded ZF8HP70 box.dinny_g wrote: Thu May 29, 2025 8:37 am Does that have the same 3.0 V6 / Auto Box combo that Clarkson raved about in the S Type ?

Also for sticky buttons, rub them in talc powder.. That usually sorts it out for a while.

Presumably also it may take off the icon on the button too. So I look like a pauper with no options. Sad face.

Nice Jaaaag. I've a hankering after a 5.0 XJ myself. @Mito Man am I correct in thinking your old man bought one of those? Has he still got it?

How about not having a sig at all?

Would seem to cover a lot of the same ground as the Bentley - presume he uses the latter just for special occasions now.

He wanted a daily driver but with the same levels of luxury and refinement and the XJ delivers that. Every surface is covered in leather, wood, alcantara. They do feel like a sensible Bentley.
