Weird, my wife’s cars have had that exact same fault a couple of times !!

Re: Your fleet running reports
When you reverse in the ML directly central to the lack posts at our local Tescos the reverse lights go yellow, 1 away from red and then disappear. So no audible tone.
I hit the post twice with my towbar to prove a point

Re: Your fleet running reports
Beany do a car vertical check yourself, just for the absolute peace of mind. Plenty of discocunt codes around for it too.
You settle up, I'll go get the Jag.
Re: Your fleet running reports
Yeah, ran one last night and there's nothing to report.
Re: Your fleet running reports
Discount code "use Autotrader sell my car to get most of the important stuff, and DVLA MOT/Insurance check for most of the rest"
Re: Your fleet running reports
Neither of which check auction salvage.
https://www.vcheck.uk/ Does and its half the price of carveritcal.
Re: Your fleet running reports
Afternoon spent with Mr Jobson. Run down the coast to North Berwick for a coffee. Very pleasant afternoon. The wrap colour looks fantastic in the flesh on his MX-5.
Re: Your fleet running reports
Auction salvage would involve being previously scrapped, or written off, surely?scotta wrote: ↑Sun May 04, 2025 5:07 pmNeither of which check auction salvage.

Unless this is some weird thing that I'm not familiar with. (that's not a bit, I'm genuinely not sure if I'm missing a trick)
Also that check is also not guaranteed to be accurate from vcheck:
Edit: Does seem to be half the price, and do everything carvertical does though.* Please note we have access to data which covers most of the salvage auctions since 2015 but we cannot guarantee 100% coverage as not all companies supply their information.
Re: Your fleet running reports
Can be through a salvage auction if it’s not recorded or mechanical failure.
The boys Sandero was through co-part due to ECU failure.

I mean we’ll gloss over the fact that it’s been through there again since as a Cat B…

Aaaaaaaah, so if, say, on an M135i you did loads of donuts and ate the crank bearings, realised it was gonna cost you £2000 to fix and you just wanted to get £6k and get shot of the fucker - so not written off from an insurance perspective, not scrapped from DVLA perspective, but still very clearly had something happen to it that made someone go "oh ho ho, fuck this noise, lets see what Copart will give us for it and just cut our losses"scotta wrote: ↑Sun May 04, 2025 6:09 pm Can be through a salvage auction if it’s not recorded or mechanical failure.

Now I get it!

Mat Armstrong's RR was never recorded as written off I believe - some insurance trickery, despite Rashford being paid out in full for it.

Re: Your fleet running reports
Finally got it out for a test drive.
Happy, definitely a lot lower but doesn’t feel overly harsh or crashy. I think the polo rear dampers are a good match.
I’m not 100% comfortable with what I had to do to get them to fit so looking at making new attachment brackets similar to the originals but to take the wider bushes.

Re: Your fleet running reports
Looks fantastic, if you’d not said it was lowered I’d think it was oem
Re: Your fleet running reports
Looks fantastic and I agree - in today's world you'd never guess that wasn't just standard.
Re: Your fleet running reports
Love it, perfect stance

Re: Your fleet running reports
That does look spanky, and takes about 15 years off the car just from not having arch gaps you could put a tugboat through.
M135i transferred DVLA-wise to Copart (as instructed)
Just need to find out out when they can pay me - at which point I assume I'll need to give the courtesy car back.
Hoping I can arrange transport of the Z4C fairly promptly after that, seeing as while I have realstically usable savings (for the first time in my life), they ain't £9k yet
so I can't just buy the car, or reasonably arrange transport till I have the LARGE CASH DEPOSIT in my account. Be a bit embarrassing if I arrange transport for next friday and insurance go "Oh, we won't get the money to you till Monday" or something.

Re: Your fleet running reports
Catching up, nice one on the Z4C, Beany. And Harry, great job. And the MX-5 looks stunning there Jobbo.
Fabia door update. New regulator panel purchased after I, ahem, dropped the last one and the mechanism unwound itself - handily returned ok to Amazon.
Tried the manual method for fitting rivnuts to reattach the door panel. Might work if you can get decent leverage on the nut you need to turn to compress them down, but M5 size (8mm) means a tiny spanner and I failed after a few goes. Also tried the method using an impact wrench but no joy there either. So now buying the tool that will hopefully do the job, and maybe the ones I need to fit to reattach bracket for my sump guard as well (though I expect further aggravation there with it being limited access).
