Also I found when having a cheap to run car, even if not really suitable you make it work because it can be enjoyable knowing you’ve saved money. So you may end up using the R5 even more than you think you will.

I expect to see you 4 up with suitcases duct taped to the roof soon

The problem is though the MG4 is bloody awful. Unless it has had a huge change then the 2 year old one my uncle has is terrible. It feels like when you floor the accelerator every suspension bolt loosens half a turn, it’s both crashy and soft and has 1 party truck of going quick on a smooth straight road.

I’m in Belgium and ordered a part for the Clio, had a nose around a few R5s they have in stock and am really impressed, as an object it has a lot of appeal and if the dash lighting isn’t too bright at night, the interior works really well.

I’ll take mine in white or yellow.

Dash lighting has a seperate "Night" mode you can adjust for preference. The dash and the screen can be adjusted independently iirc

Then this is definitely on the list for the future for a runabout, the looks just absolutely make it.

Range is crap but it’s nice to see Renault making something desirable.

Surprised to see the alpine versions uses the same battery, so exchanges more power for less range, at quite a decent cost uplift. Either it needs to be a huge step up in driving experience or you have to really want the alpine to choose it over a standard 5

Yep - the main attraction on the 5 is the affordability. A faster one with less range for more money doesn't appeal.

540bhp is interesting, but 1450kg is more interesting. RWD with a separate motor per wheel.

Everything I've read about it reports a price of "well over £100,000" which for a 540bhp 1450kg soulless car with just a cool bodykit once again puts it firmly in the not bothered category.

£46k if you simply convert for inflation. I bet it would be more than that though - into the £60k plus I reckon

See the estimated £65k cost of a 4 banger emira...They are now nearer £100k
