Classic car hire Italy

I’m looking at renting a classic car to drive around either Tuscany or Puglia end of next month..

Has anyone done anything similar? Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Never done so - but it looks awesome!

(Assuming you have experience of driving in Italy and having to adjust your style to drive like an Italian if you want to actually get anywhere, and that the insurance excess isn't mindbending if a 3rd party Italian puts a mark on it for you).

I didn't find the driving in Italy that bad, apart from the nuns in a Panda that flew past us.

From this website my choices would be 1959 Alfa Giulietta, Autobianchi Bianchina or classic mini for Italian job feels, none of them are in the slightest bit quick though so maybe get the gt3 touring you posted

Yeah, I should clarify - the gt3 was a joke! I’ve been looking at a website called slowdrive so definitely not looking to lose license… not being in a hurry anywhere generally is the aim

And with a whole 50cc engine you definitely won’t get caught speeding

944S2 cab would be perfect I reckon. Old enough to have some charm, fast enough for your needs (they need some revs to pick up their skirts though). And the pop-up lights will keep you entertained.

Edit: that one has the standard as opposed to more heavily bolstered Sports seats - they are very comfortable.

ETA if you do don't get an MC Shift just a normal Auto. My dad's MC Shift nearly overheated the box in the queue for the Montblanc tunnel

Buying from a dealer & then trading back in with a dealer ? It would be cheaper to hire the GT3.

I had a first gen XKR, not something I wish to repeat tbh..

Yeah, had lunch with my parents and even my dad (who hates Porsche for some reason) said that would be good fun.. @GG. option is tempting also as I’ve never driven a car that old before.. and is good looking and based in Sorrento
