The MX30 comparison ruined it for me

I have actually seen one in the flesh up close and they don't look massive to me. Certainly not Range Rover size though in reality their dimensions are very similar other than the Ferrari is much lower.

It will be interesting to see how they perform depreciation wise - FFs went from 300 to 100k in about 7 years. I imagine there will be good retention initially but then will drop off, largely on account of frightening maintenance (i.e. that front PTO box that is discussed above).

I don't really understand why you'd have one over a brand new Range Rover and an 812 superfast/duodicicylindri (however you spell it). That said the performance SUV thing is something that has always puzzled me.

I've seen a couple in the flesh and you're right, they don't look oversized. Nor like a CX30 (not the MX30 - that's a different car despite the caption but does have suicide rear doors so maybe an amalgam...).

I don't think they look great though. The front end is particularly unappealing; those weird carbon wheelarches and lots of shutlines ruin whatever effect they were trying to go for. Sound nice, but I only know that because they seem to be driven at high speed in town centres, so they're attracting an undesirable clientele

There are way more NCGs who can afford these.

500k for that? Bit steep but if you can afford one then a great car.

People want SUVs, some people want fast SUVs. Those people don't want an estate. Fundamentally, they're all the same underneath.

I’m a bit upset you can’t fit a towbar to it. How cool would it be to pull 3 tonnes of hay with that, and it would make an ever better sound whilst doing it.
How about not having a sig at all?

It is really an illusion with that as the reasons you'd plump for a 4x4 (higher driving position, ability to tow) don't apply here anyway!

Only advance is slightly better ground clearance and I suppose - rear doors, versus an FF or GTC4 Lusso.

Went to The Farmer’s Dog for lunch today and then for a walk from Swinbrook afterwards.. inadvertently ended up on the B4437 heading back towards Burford. Didn’t recognise it until I reached the crossroads.. so had to turn around and go check out the curves. Lots of 20mph zones now.. guess that’s Oxford’s doing?
Cheers,

Most Oxfordshire towns and villages seem to have adopted the 20 limit. I think the B4437 is still NSL all the way from the outskirts of Charlbury to the A361.

They're not Quattro Sports; in fact they're barely quattros at all. Here's some info and photographic evidence that they aren't normal:
https://audiclubna.org/dakar-classic-du ... breakdown/

And here's a bit more detail of a much earlier version: https://silodrome.com/audi-quattro-de-paoli/ - that was more akin to a rally Range Rover with a quattro lookalike bodyshell.

I know this isn't about his cars, but why's he sharing this? He's not becoming some conspiracy nut is he? SMART METERS WILL BURN YOUR HOUSE DOWN!

His post is almost Elon in style. Just asking questions…

I imagine the cause was that it was badly fitted.

On paper, always loved the idea of the GR86 - modern but old school (hand brake, no stop/start, no lane assist), NA, FE, RWD....but always thought it looked a bit tame next to the GR-Yaris.

Also, needs lighter wheels.

I think the GR86 looks better than Harry said; the proportions in the flesh are quite cool. But 1275kg is not amazingly light, and the obvious competitor is the MX5 so I hope he drives one as well soon. Really a 7yr old M2 isn’t necessarily going to appeal to someone who wants a nearly new GR86; a Supra might.
