The opportunity to do over that is getting smaller, it's not much fun - even less so in a small car - and most won't ever be in the hands of anyone interested in doing so, and they're predominantly going to be used in urban areas one would imagine.mik wrote: Tue Nov 19, 2024 2:27 pmNice.Mito Man wrote: Tue Nov 19, 2024 2:21 pm https://www.topgear.com/car-news/electr ... rt-ps22995
Renault 5 fully spec'd will cost £29,000. Looks decent and priced well with a decent battery unlike the Honda E which was destined to fail. But all limited to 93mph (150kph). <sigh>

(Mrs mik's E-Tron is limited to 124mph (200kph) but FFS)

If only you had a family member who knew a bit about cars, and even buys them occasionally, to send out to the Home Counties!..Gavster wrote: Tue Nov 19, 2024 3:54 pm The price is at the low end of a non v-car Leon estate, especially with such a low mileage, this spec is surprisingly expensive.
Anyway, I’m going absolutely bonkers here hyperfocussing on finding a car which is driving me a little crazy because all the ones I want to view are at least an hour away and I’m desperately trying to finish a work project so don’t have much spare time, especially not half a day to drive around some dealers. Gonna do a big editing session tonight to clear some space so I can get out to view some soon tomorrow
I can't speak for the modern ones, but a colleague had an Altea about 10yrs ago and the DPF drove them round the twist. It wouldn't clear despite them doing a lap of the M60 once a week. They'd have to take it into the dealership every other month. They did mostly urban journeys in it and in the end he realised it was stupid having to take it on a once a week circuit of Manchester to try to get it to clear, and they ditched it for a petrol B-MaxGavster wrote: Tue Nov 19, 2024 3:58 pm I'm liking this, looks great and brilliant spec too, even though it's a diesel. Also been hearing conflicting reports about the DPF, some people saying it's easy to clear as long as you do 10 - 15 minutes at >2k RPM once a week which is easily doable. But then again, a new DPF is £1k + fitting so maybe not worth the risk![]()
