My Grandpa had a brown Austin Princess with that colour interior. I think the ribs used to go the opposite way on the side panels.

Brilliant interior, absolutely love it. All the seperate parts of the seat make it work, if it was a less complicated seat then it wouldn’t.

When I was young a friend's dad had a Princess and it was the most luxurious car that I had ever travelled in. We had a Beetle at the time with the plastic basket weave seats

My folks had a Princess, and later an Ambassador. The latter was still around after I passed my test, so I had the misfortune of driving it way more than I would have liked.

Massive inside compared to the competition, with the super-long-travel hydro suspension giving a fabulous ride (in theory at least, and at times - it did). Flipside was horrific body control - damping was super-soft, massively over-servoed brakes, ridiculously over-servoed steering with practically zero feedback, awful gear shift full of rubber, and ours (1.7l delivering just 83bhp) was gutless whilst still barely able to deliver 30mpg.

I remember the brakes as he would demonstrate them on the way to the rainbow car wash. The suds used to make rainbows all over the car as you were inside .

The fold down section of his used to sit flat on the seat and I also remember it having a sunroof you could take out entirely. My Dad had the same one fitted to his Chevette at some point too.

At about 25 seconds into that vid we see a fourth child get into the back seat of that car! Plus the dog!

You notice that a lot if you’re a car guy and get into towing. Also those Transit tippers are illegal half the time. They can’t tow more than 2.8 tonnes but usually have a 2.8 tonne digger on a half tonne trailer but I think the authorities don’t know how to read the plant models which clearly have the weight incorporated in the model name slapped across the machine in massive font.

Not into towing but need to know the carrying capacities of a loaded van. Beavertail transit car transporters only have a 1 tonne carrying capacity- they’re basically overloaded with every single modern supermini, never mind the likes of x5’s and handovers you always see on them. Even my old twingo was over a tonne

I used to think Nephrite was too much even for me. But I actually like it now.

I like, not sure about it with the silver exterior. The white dials need changing to silver, the wheels need Nephrite centres.
