I did wonder that as I watched it. By the time that one was built, the E34 M5 had gained the larger 3.8 engine with more power too.integrale_evo wrote: Mon Sep 02, 2024 7:42 pm Why does he keep comparing it to an e28 M5?
The 500e came out in 1990, the e34 M5 came out in 1988![]()

I’ve never seen it compared to an E28 either.
Maybe as it was the first full production car of that type for Mercedes ?

Surprised no one's posted about this yet. Glorious noise and a bit of a bargain compared to various Singers and definitely the incredibly ugly GT3 RS he put it next to. In conclusion, want.

Ah, I remember when those were about £25k (iirc) and a track day p-ride in Peter964RS's one.
Left over crest; tightens.
Re: Harry’s Garage
I didn't think that was an overly positive review - and I'm not sure at £200k it does look good value next to a Tuthill or similar. I'd rather have a 992 GT3 (not the RS though, the exterior of that is way OTT).

I think they’re lovely, but I tend to lose interest in cars like that when the price goes stupid and people only seem to jump on them because they’re expensive trading tokens.
Cheers, Harry

I have no want for that RS. Its expensive and slow by modern standards. There are so many alternatives for less money. If i had £200k to spend on a Porsche it definitely wouldn't be spent on that. A GT4 RS would be very high on the list.Jobbo wrote: Tue Sep 10, 2024 10:41 am I didn't think that was an overly positive review - and I'm not sure at £200k it does look good value next to a Tuthill or similar. I mean I'd much prefer a breathed on C2 for a tonne less money of course, but it is rather a nice sounding car that will probably keep its value
I had a walk round a 992 today funnily enough, it was massive, they just do nothing for me now. I assume that would change if I drove one

Re: Harry’s Garage
Having now watched it, I’d be amazed if it really had 330bhp unless it’s had serious internal work. Even if Porsche were underestimating them a bit at 260bhp I find it pretty doubtful an intake and remap with a piggyback ecu would see 330
If it was 330bhp it should feel pretty quick, even by modern standards. 280bhp/ton isn’t exactly shabby, current gt3 rs is around 340/ton

I'm gonna wager that was a very generous flywheel estimate...
Re: Harry’s Garage
Or the Max Power HP adder calculation.
Remap +20hp
Air filter +5hp
Exhaust + 15hp
Dave!

Re: Harry’s Garage
Even if they were 280 standard, I think it’s extremely unlikely that you’d coax a further 50bhp of out of that NA powerplant.
I do like the 964RS and It’s understated visuals; although I’d rather have a 993RS.

Another Porsche.
Seems rapid, not convinced by the colour or the TSW Venoms, and those puddle lights are the cheesiest things I’ve seen since the “power, beauty, soul” thing on an Aston.

Watched that last night.. also think I saw that particular car at Porsche West London yesterday, lovely car
Porsche’s website is a bit of a mess currently with very few 911 options when you try to configure one.

I like it. But £231k base, £255k as tested.IanF wrote: Mon Sep 16, 2024 9:19 am Watched that last night.. also think I saw that particular car at Porsche West London yesterday, lovely car![]()

Priced to hunt Porschephile whales. Probably with great albeit depressing success.
Cool spec but, McLaren 750 money...

Re: Harry’s Garage
£400k+ in the classifieds, so a bit of a bargain if looking to sell after ~1yr. Can’t say that about the 750

Re: Harry’s Garage
It's annoying - they've removed most of the 992 variants because the 992.2 has been launched, but the Dakar was still up until fairly recently despite being sold out ages ago.IanF wrote: Mon Sep 16, 2024 9:19 am Porsche’s website is a bit of a mess currently with very few 911 options when you try to configure one.
I thought I saw a 992 S/T this morning - in white with black wheels (which isn't very heritage, hence I wasn't certain). It had the GT3 RS front bumper but fully painted, with painted bonnet and no rear spoiler. It looks like the 992 GT3 Touring has that front bumper so probably one of those.
I would rather have PDK anyway, but I think a 992 GT3 Touring gives you 95% of the S/T for a lot less money:
https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en-GB/det ... ned-PXX8NG is a 2024 car with less than 200 miles on it.
https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en-GB/det ... ned-076GKN also 2024 with fewer than 900 miles, a more appealing colour scheme and manual if that matters to you.
