There are a few things I agree with USA on.
I agree in principle. I remember in the 80s my parents did lift-sharing to school and one of the families ran a business. The dad said he would only buy cars from the U.K. in order to support our trade. So I usually rode in his wife’s mk1 Vauxhall Astra, and occasionally in his Silver Shadow. By about 1988 he’d changed his tune and drove a 560SEL. He stuck to Mercs ever after; I recently spotted him driving past my office (recognised his private plate) in a CLA.

So yes, in principle support U.K. industry but there comes a point where it’s not possible. Would love to see a utility spec Range Rover with cloth seats and manual heating controls 😄

Jaguar was an obvious fit for the Police and a Defender based Ambulance would be pretty cool

I think he is into his 80s - I did check with his daughter that it was him just to make sure he was still alive 😄

My mum got her refund returned for it 2 weeks ago. I imagine some Chinese company will buy it up now.

I've done it again! Tesla asked if I wanted a software update and I clicked schedule for later (745pm) as I don't go out in the evening.

At 7ish, wife says there's an issue at the horse yard so I obviously took my car. Ended up stuck there for an additional 45mins whilst waiting for the car to do its update. Wife didn't mind as it meant I could do all the hay nets for her.

We picked up my wife's EX30 last week and sales guy says it often does updates that can take 2 hours. He advised not to do this at night as can compromise the cars security (if no one can drive it, I don't know how). But sod doing it during the day!

You have my sympathy on being made to fill hay nets.

45 minutes to 2 hours seems like a really long time... Presumably it pre-downloads the software so just needs to do the actual update in that time?

Mike.

No idea. I can never be bothered to read about the updates that's occurred. I'll just be driving around wondering why my indicators aren't working the same and my windscreen wiper button has suddenly moved to the steering wheel.

Volvo salesman showed us the self park function and was surprised I'd never tried it before with the Tesla. Told him I wouldn't know if it has that function and probably wont bother to look it up.

I've never been interested in learning about car functions, unless it makes the car faster!

I'm the worst person to have all these tech, I should have lived in the 60s/70s/80s 8-)

Aaaaaaaaaand this would put any car on the no purchase list as serious as cars coming with car shit in the glove box as standard 😂

What a ridiculous way to manage a car.

It's more the 2024 changes that's frustrating. You can turn off the speed limit warning and lane warning easily (it's on the main screen, so no need for sub menu's etc), but can't seem to turn off the bongs for 'not concentrating on the road'. Wife said she even got a warning messaged because she looked tired  .

Apparently they're going to relax this on a further software update because so many have complained about it (not just journalists such as Matt Prior, but the dealerships themselves as well as the buyers).
