Yesterday afternoon, for the first time in my life, I found myself in the embarrassing position of putting fuel in my car with no means of paying. I absent mindedly put my work phone in my pocket as I left instead of my personal one with Apple Pay and didn't' have my wallet.
The guy at the counter was fine about it - I left my name, address, car details etc and headed back home to get my wallet - which would have only taken 10 minutes tops. But then he called me back...
The next guy in the queue, a Taxi Driver, said he pay and absolutely wouldn't take No for an answer. He finally agreed to give me his mobile number so I could contact him to pay him back but he absolutely insisted. I txt'd him straight away when I got home but so far he hasn't responded yet. I hope he does.
It was only £15 (the car is going back to the Lease company on Friday) so perhaps he thought I was struggling for money (I was looking particularly scruffy) but whatever, he paid and saved the day.
I'll chase him again later and if he doesn't get back to me, I'll donate £15 to the local Hospice.
