They look nice Duncs. Quite like the later S2 240R alloys. Are they OE fitment on any Elises?

They do look similar to 240R yeah, @Matty made the same observation on Insta. No, was never OE. They're definitely up there with the lightest you can get though. I haven't weighed them, but according to SELOC they're sub-5kg front and sub-6kg rear.

It was between this and Rota Slipstream, but I just think they're that bit better looking, lighter and you don't see so many of them (they are of course dearer too though).

They are very similar:

Personally I much prefer the TMR, they have a much less pronounced taper towards the rim and the back out where they join. Makes them look a bit more angular.

I know these things are normal, but its slightly disconcerting that coolant and now oil is needed on a car that's done just over 10k.

And when have you ever checked the oil and ended up putting 2l in without something being wrong. It may as well say go to the dealer!

Yes that is a lot isn't it.

I think on the 997s it had four little segments on the guage and each one was 250ml so 1litre min to max. It did like to burn oil a litte with occassionally a plume of white smoke on start up but TADTS.

RR doesn't seem to have any way of checking - every time I go onto that screen it just says "oil level not available" so I guess I default to the warning light :?

Our D4 had a similar "electronic dipstick", but from memory - if you get the above you need to switch the engine off and check it again (ignition on, engine not running) approx 5 mins later when the oil has settled in the sump. :?:

I think it's still quite "normal" for a new car to use oil in early life whilst everything is still running-in. Doesn't mean it'll continue using oil thereafter. In saying that, mrs mik's e-tron hasn't needed a drop. ;)

Ignition on, open the bonnet and it will force a reading.

Doesn’t the airbag on many BMW models from 10-20 years ago need replacing? Can’t be fun doing that all day!

Weird - I was thinking about this the other day. Don't airbags have a shelf life and should be replaced at some point? Or are you guys specifically on about a recall?

There's a recall on Takata airbags as the active ingredients which inflate the airbag get more volatile with age, with the result that once they go off they can turn into a small grenade. It's a major recall worldwide affect many car manufacturers as there's millions of defective airbags out there now.
