I was a bit slow, we didn't get engaged until we had been together for ten years. Married now for sixteen.

ooh, let me think. Together for 18 years, living together for 16, married for 12 in a couple of weeks from now. Daughter was born 9 months to the day after our wedding. For the record, she was 9 days early, our honeymoon was a week.

Come on, there's a story there !

(here: recently had 15th wedding anniversary, first met just over 26 years ago, yikes)
Not sure about a story...

I was living in Edinburgh, she lived in London. She had done her teacher training with my little sister and the two of them came up from the smoke to visit another teacher pal in Edinburgh. Said Pal's boiler broke (not a euphemism) so my sister called me and asked if she and a friend could kip at ours. I explained we had a full house but they would be warm.

So they came along, my now wife sat in the corner as my sister is gobbier than me and knew my flatmates a bit so she never said a word for hours.

full disclosure, I was in bed with someone when they arrived.

Anyway, about 6.30pm we ran out of fags and booze so Kyra said she would go to the offy with my sister, my sister is lazy and wouldn't go so I said I would walk her there and back as she had never been to Edinburgh, let alone where we lived.

Ended up walking all the way to a pub to find an open off licence so went in and accidentally stayed until closing.

Que miffed girl I was seeing and miffed little sister.

Kyra managed to get my number of my sister on the way back to London and we chatted a bit then she called me saying she was looking at flights (we hadn't touched each other at this point) to Edinburgh. I said go for it and she came up for a weekend of fun and frolicks.

She then came up a few weeks later on the train and I bought a ring and got down on one knee outside Edinburgh train station. A few weeks later I rented a Vectra estate and moved to London.

We got married the following April.

TL:DR

We met, hit it off and I proposed.

You nearly blew it with the Vectra Estate though!!!

Met when a chance MSN messenger reconciliation happened while I was out in Tanzania.
Went to a wedding on my return where I wore a top hat and tails, Treina saw a pic of me and fell madly in love like a Hollywood movie.

Together for 1 year, engaged, lived together, married for 10 years this June and together for 16 years.

Dave!

Jesus you’re all very rosemantic!!!

I met my other half at a leaving do for a work colleague. She house-shared with my work colleagues partner and came along for a night out. I noticed her standing at the bar and muttered “Nice Arse” under my breath. He heard me and invited her along the next week for a night out with just the 4 of us without telling me and the rest… and the arse unfortunately… is history

As another antidote to the sweetness.

I knew my current partner through work before we got together, the last time I was single we started hanging out socially as they were single too. One of their friends was into me but I wasn't that fussed about them. One time when they were on holiday, Clara and I went out just the two of us. A long night of shots, clubs and afters later the rest is history. I was their boss at the time as well :? .

My only other long term relationship started after I got a random message from a friend from school about a party, I was about 18 and hadn't seen anyone from School in at least a year. It was at this guy's house and apparently his girlfriend had fancied me at school. He tried to fight me at the party which didn't go well and she came home with me.

I'm a total scumbag

We were only seeing each other but yes, I am still friends on facebook with her and her identical twin.

As to film, it is not exactly acid house, although we did have an absolute arse as a downstairs neighbour and a mate who was a Hibs casual so could maybe pass... :D

Ha. MSN messenger was the thing that got me and my wife talking. 😂. We'd dated when younger and drifted apart. Somehow reconnected on MSN messenger for a while followed by a few drunken booty calls then relationship. We've been married for 13 years and together for 17 (I think).

I had one kinda similar, but was about 15 at the time, and wasn't that interested in the guys GF at all. But she still let on that she fancied me, and fibbed that I had flirted with her.

Protip - don't try to jump someone from behind - literally on my back like a monkey - especially someone who is pretty large, and within distance of a sharply harled wall.

I just ran backwards at full pelt into it and the fight was over

She tried to come over to me and make out that i was really cool and I told her to get to fuck and if she lied about me again she'd get the same.

Unsurprisingly I've not had many relationships that lasted very long, I'm not really a people person beyond the surface level. I can think of two people I've known consistently/personally (IE in person, SMS, Whatsapp, not group stuff like here) for more than 15 years, and a handful more than ten. And that's just 'consistently been in contact with', not in any kind of romantic sense.

I'm sure there are very complex psychological reasons for that which I should probably look into some day, but for now, I'm reasonably comfortable being a bit of a hermit.

Nope, I didn't start it, and I didn't exactly fight, I just used my natural resources against someone who wasn't thinking very far ahead
