It all depends on situation such as if you're eating other foods at the time, what they might be, same with drinks etc. Every olive has a rightful place.

I don't like the black ones.
How about not having a sig at all?
Re: Do not open this message. Private.
Back in the day humble marmite provided almost equal forum division. It’s a sign of how much more cultured we’ve become that the relatively bourgeois olive has now taken this mantle.

I can't stand Marmite "raw", but it is an excellent way to add umami to food. Add a dollop to meat stews for extra oomph.

Marmite roast potatoes are good too.
Re: Do not open this message. Private.
This. Absolutely, positively this.
Also kalamata thanks... BUT ALL OF THE OLIVES.
Which reminds me of a fave lunchtime meal - tomatoes, green, black and kalamata olives, capers all chopped up with some olive oil and lemon juice. Add to a slice of toast, poached egg plus anchovie fillets. Fucking winning.

Love them. Kids do too. If there are olives or gherkins/pickled cucumbers available they'll hoover them up.

Oddly I like all Marmite flavoured things but not Marmite itself. It's hugely outperformed on all levels by Bovril.

Gherkins are fucking lush.
Get Polish ones if you can. The Poles make the best Gherkins

Correctness. I find that many of the "British" varieties are too sweet.
A favourite sandwich is extra mature cheddar, gherkins, mayo and mustard.

I was looking for a way to squeeze that in. I thought one way or another it'd be a miracle

Weirdly the first couple of bites of the gherkin are the best. All downhill after that.
