That’s fightin’ talk….

For sure modern paint is less robust than stuff used on older cars due to restrictions on additives, but other than that….. ?

Unfortunately it does look nice so I’m reluctant to swap it for anything different 😬
I'm halfway through the Bremen install on the 928. I'll let you know what it's like once I've tried it out.
If you get all wobbly-lipped about the opinion of Internet strangers, maybe it's time to take a bath with the toaster as you'll never amount to sh1t anyway.

Painted by a man with a spray gun vs multi million pound precisely controlled robots in a sealed spray process I guess. Same reason resprays are rarely as good as factory paint.

I’d guess there’s more paint on something hand sprayed, which is good for future polishing, but that alone tends to mean it’s softer.

I don't think a measured reply indicates any sort of triggering on my part, but your engagement speaks for itself

Done it ! Every write-up says that the radio controls will work immediately when you fit the multifunction wheel and just the cruise needs coding in. Not so. The SZL needs MFL coded to aktiv. And THEN it works.

Not quite hypermileing but 66 miles down to my parents’ place today with the cruise mostly set @ 65mph and we have a new high score.

Tillet seat arrived today. Now I just have a bit of a wait for the rails and padding to go with it.

And bizarrely, it was downhill on the way home too. Round trip result:

I need to do a brim-to-brim to validate this, it seems too good, the published extra urban is only 78.5mpg. I’ve filled it today and we’re off to Cologne via Bruges on Monday. That’ll be a good test.

(the display goes a bit squiffy when it’s hot, it’s a common problem)

^ I was going to ask if you'd brim checked it, and say that even in the unlikely event of it being 10% out it's still v. good 8-)
You're cheating only having the cruise at 65.

It'll be a good test of many things, Bruges is a shithole.

Had an absolutely crap day. Wanted to change the rear attachment on the tractor from lawn mower collector to chipper. Usually a 5 minute job but one of the pins had rusted solid on the 3 point hitch. Fuck me. Used a hammer, fire, clamp, sledge hammer, bent 2 pry bars into bananas, used a 3 tonne digger one end and winch on the other. Fucker didn’t budge at all
Then tried to get smart and fashion something like a flywheel puller but that was also a waste of time.

This only left me with 2 options, A) cut the 3 point hitch or B) cut the pin on the mower collector implement.

A is the smart thing to do as usually it’s easy to get a replacement arm, and the ball joint is already pretty fucked so needs changing anyway but the agricultural parts shortage is about 5 times worse than what’s happening with cars right now. Go to the dealer and they can’t even give me a date, they don’t even have spare pins or the right grade of hydraulic oil ffs

Guess I’m butchering the collector. It’s redundant anyway and it can always be welded back I suppose. Cut the pin off and start removing it from the tractor side only to find that pin is also rusted in place. Fortunately it is a replaceable pin and I can fashion one out of a threaded bolt so cut that fecker out too and I can finally start the arduous task of drilling the main pin out.

3 broken drill bits later and it’s finally out …

12 hours that took me. Just need to drive 30 miles tomorrow to get some hydraulic oil for the chipper…

Oh ? We're only doing an afternoon & overnight there to break up the journey, my wife didn't want to do the drive to Cologne in one hit. It's 400 miles, I'd be happy to do it non-stop but I'll concede it's pretty boring spending that long in a car with me.

Wife is mainly excited about going here: https://choco-story-brugge.be/en/

I like Brugge, what’s wrong with it?
It has the common problem of pretty crap food which is vastly overpriced but that’s basically the same with the whole geographic area.
